One of the most exciting ways we use it is for live sharing—students can show their work, experiments, or ideas directly to the class without having to leave their seats. In Science, they've loved using the iPad to record observations and interact with our classroom fish, sharing real-time data and tracking changes together.\r\n\r\nStudents also use the iPad to collaborate more easily with classmates. Those who are usually shy about presenting at the board feel confident sharing their thinking and discoveries digitally. It encourages participation, teamwork, and thoughtful discussion, all while keeping the classroom flow smooth and organized.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has become more than just a device—it's a tool that helps every student engage, explore, and contribute to our learning community in ways that weren't possible before.","fullyFundedDate":1746786254420,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-learning-bringing-lessons-to/9188121/","projectTitle":"Empowering Learning: Bringing Lessons to Life with an iPad!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peacock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9484951"},{"teacherId":9484951,"projectId":9330249,"letterContent":"When the new tables arrived, my room transformed. The classroom looked completely different—open, bright, and ready for learning. Before, we had four very large round tables that made it hard to work in small groups or move around. But with seven new tables, everything changed. Suddenly, students could form groups of two or three, move easily, and have their own space to think, talk, and learn together.\r\n\r\nOne of our first activities with the new setup was a hands-on science lesson about matter. Students were so engaged—measuring, mixing, and observing while sharing ideas with their group. It was amazing to see how the new tables helped them focus and collaborate. In math, the change has been just as powerful. During group problem-solving, students lean in together, use whiteboards to show their work, and really support each other's thinking.\r\n\r\n The excitement hasn't faded. Students take pride in caring for the new tables and in how our classroom feels now—a space where they belong and can do their best work. Thanks to this donation, my students are learning, sharing, and growing in ways that weren't possible before.","fullyFundedDate":1746786171800,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-students-one-table-at-a-time/9330249/","projectTitle":"Supporting Students, One Table at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peacock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9484951"},{"teacherId":9484951,"projectId":9036187,"letterContent":"The donation of snacks has had a significant impact on my classroom in Alaska. Many students come to school without having had a meal, and having access to snacks ensures that they are not trying to learn on an empty stomach. It has helped meet a basic need so that students can better focus on their lessons instead of being distracted by hunger.\r\n\r\nThese snacks have also created a supportive classroom environment, where students know they are cared for and can count on having something to eat when they need it. Whether it's helping a student make it through the day or giving them the energy to participate more fully in class, the snack donations have played an important role in fostering both learning and well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1741368379367,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-minds-snacks-for-super-students/9036187/","projectTitle":"Fueling Minds: Snacks for Super Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peacock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9484951"},{"teacherId":9484951,"projectId":9234851,"letterContent":"The Nex system has had a powerful impact on our classroom in Alaska. It has given me the ability to reward students with exciting, interactive learning games that keep them motivated and engaged. These activities not only serve as rewards, but also give students meaningful opportunities to reinforce and practice what they have learned in class. This balance of fun and practice has created a more positive and supportive learning environment where students look forward to participating.\r\n\r\nThe students especially love using the Nex system to practice their math skills in a new and exciting way. They enjoy the games, the challenges, and the chance to show what they know in an interactive format. Because of this, they are more eager to participate, more confident in their skills, and more willing to take on new learning. The Nex system has turned practice into something they celebrate, and it has truly enhanced the classroom experience.\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stands out was when we introduced the math \"Whac-A-Mole\" game on the Nex system. A student who is usually very reluctant to join in classroom activities sat on the sidelines at first, quietly watching the others play. As the game went on, the excitement and laughter of his classmates drew him in, and he decided to give it a try. To his surprise, he not only enjoyed the fast-paced challenge but also got several math problems correct in a row. The smile on his face and the encouragement from his peers showed just how powerful this tool can be in turning hesitation into engagement. Since then, he has been more willing to participate in class, and the Nex system has become a way for him to experience success and confidence in learning.","fullyFundedDate":1744032855340,"projectUrl":"project/what-are-we-going-to-do-nex/9234851/","projectTitle":"What Are We Going to Do Nex?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peacock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9484951"},{"teacherId":9484951,"projectId":8444978,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for providing micro:bit materials for our students. Living in rural Alaska, we face significant challenges in accessing resources that support cutting-edge educational opportunities. The inclusion of these materials in our classroom has had a transformative impact on our students' learning and engagement.\r\n\r\nPrior to receiving the micro:bits, teaching the programming and coding components of the Computer Science Discoveries course seemed out of reach due to our remote location and limited resources. Thanks to your support, our students were able to fully experience this vital aspect of computer science education.\r\n\r\nThe micro:bit projects sparked incredible curiosity and excitement among the students. For many, it was their first hands-on experience with programming and coding. Seeing their enthusiasm as they worked through creative problem-solving tasks and brought their ideas to life with the micro:bits was truly inspiring. These activities not only enriched their technical skills but also encouraged critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation.\r\n\r\nThis opportunity has opened doors for our students that they never imagined possible, empowering them with foundational skills in a growing field. We are deeply appreciative of your commitment to supporting education in remote communities like ours.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for making this invaluable experience a reality for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1726688519515,"projectUrl":"project/class-set-of-microbit/8444978/","projectTitle":"Class set of Micro:bit","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peacock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9484951"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43239","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":190,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":63,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":41.2,"schoolId":43239,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Nenana City Public School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Nenana City Public School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alaska/nenana-city-public-school-district/nenana-city-public-school/43239"}
