Your thoughtful contribution has already made an impact on the learning environment and daily experiences for students.\r\n\r\nIn the past, I had limited options for flexible seating. Due to the limited options, the only students that could utilize them regularly were students with IEPs and 504 plans. I wanted to offer flexible seating for any student who wanted it. The lap desks and inflatable chair cushions have been a hit. The lap desks have been beneficial, so students from the back of the room can come sit close to the board to see better. The ability to choose comfortable seating arrangement empowers my students to take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThe chapter books have been fantastic. The new books have ignited a love of reading in their growing minds. The class loves having more options when it comes to the books offered in the classroom.\r\n\r\nI had a student approach me and say he wanted a middle school level book to read. Before the donors choose donation, I have very limited options. Thankfully, I had the Percy Jackson series to offer him. He has been engrossed in the book ever since I offered it to him. The best part is that it comes in a series, so he will have numerous books to read from.\r\n\r\nThe two Wild Robot sequel books are particularly popular. We read the first novel in class and went on a field trip to see the movie in theaters. Students loved both the book and movie. As soon as I offered the sequel books, students have been patiently taking turns reading the books. I love that the story of Roz is full of kindness, curiosity, and optimism. These are qualities I love seeing my students recognize and learn from. We have since done a few projects based on The Wild Robot series.\r\n\r\nYour kindness and support remind me that education is truly a community effort. We are so fortunate to have donors who believe in education and willing to invest in children and their schools. Overall, my experience with Donors Choose and the donations given to my classroom have been tremendously positive. My students and I are grateful for all the items donated.","fullyFundedDate":1727287452247,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-and-classroom-books/8718439/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating and Classroom Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gordon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9434193"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41545","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":369,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":9,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":61.5,"schoolId":41545,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sherrod Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sherrod Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alaska/mat-su-borough-school-district/sherrod-elementary-school/41545"}
