Many of my students come in hungry or go long stretches without enough to eat, so having consistent access to snacks has helped them stay focused and engaged throughout the day.\r\n\r\nSome moments that really stand out are during my reading pull outs where some of my students often struggles to stay on task was able to sit, eat a quick snack, and then fully participate in the lesson. Instead of shutting down or asking to leave, they are better able to stay regulated and focus on the assignment. During January, students created a variety of hands-on art projects. Third graders painted Alaskan Northern Lights landscapes, used neon markers to draw colorful owls, and sculpted pinch bowls and imaginative clay pieces. Fourth and fifth graders explored a sea theme, making 3D jellyfish and air-dry clay sea stars. Kindergarten and first grade students created 35 Japanese fish and lava lamps, while second graders painted self-portraits on canvas.\r\n\r\nDuring the week of January 19â23, classes learned in the Glow Room Transformation Space through academic games and social-emotional activities. These glow activities have become a favorite among students and now parents as well. On January 22, community members visited the Glow Gallery.
