Preparing for the AP Biology exam requires months of dedication, perseverance, and hard work as students balance rigorous coursework, extracurricular activities, jobs, sports, and family responsibilities. Thanks to your support, I was able to create a fun and encouraging environment that reminded students they were not facing this challenge alone.\r\n\r\nThe Star Wars & Biology themed snacks and stress-relief items brought smiles, laughter, and much-needed moments of calm before the exam. On a day filled with nerves and pressure, these thoughtful treats helped students relax, feel celebrated, and walk into their test with greater confidence. The \"May the 4th\" theme added a playful reminder that they already had the \"force\" of their preparation behind them.\r\n\r\nYour kindness also showed students that their hard work matters and that there are people who believe in their success. Many of these students have spent countless hours studying difficult concepts like genetics, ecology, evolution, and cellular processes, often pushing themselves far beyond what they thought possible. This small celebration recognized not only their academic effort, but also their resilience and determination.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me encourage and support my students during this important milestone. Your generosity created a positive memory they will carry with them long after the AP exam is over, and it reminded them that learning can still include joy, community, and encouragement even during stressful moments.","fullyFundedDate":1775755951284,"projectUrl":"project/ap-bio-test-day-goodies/10158051/","projectTitle":"AP Bio Test Day Goodies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7034004_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y61&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1600231582605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7034004"},{"teacherId":5968606,"projectId":7617025,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to the North Pole Middle school band program. Multiple classes have come in to make bookmarks, which has been a great way to slow down and personalize their reading experience. The library has also been able to offer students who are finished with all their work, or students who need technology-free activities, some much needed creative time.\r\n\r\nThe other part of our campaign was for signage that we use daily to let students know schedules and meetings for the day. Because the white boards are double sided, we use one side for announcements and one side for class use when we are teaching classes in the library. \r\n\r\nWe have a free choice day coming up where we plan to devote a chunk of time to blinging out book covers with the diamond painting supplies. Seeing these all over TikTok has motivated these students to think about how they are going to bling their favorite book. We were able to do quite a few projects that helped the students enhance their learning experience. Many of them were excited to have such a great opportunity and said it helped them learn the material much better than they would have without the materials. \r\n\r\nWe were able to dissect the owl pellets and hearts in medical terminology in order to identify and classify bones, ID bone structures, and ID bones. Furthermore, they were able to label the joints on the bones they found within the pellet. Although some were grossed out by it, most of them really enjoyed being able to take part in this activity. \r\n\r\nIn medical terminology we were also able to dissect the hearts. This was great for them to see that not all hearts look exactly the same. Students were also able to identify all the terms we had gone over in class in real life instead on a one dimensional object, like they had done prior to the heart dissection. Once we were done with the hearts in medical terminology, my health occupations class was able to use their suturing skills to sew the hearts back together. This allowed us to get even more use out of the hearts than just dissecting them. \r\n\r\nThe dice were helpful in allowing students to do several review games for the heart and the bones. We plan on using them for more review games in the future. In my nutrition class, the large poster boards were used to make review posters about carbohydrates. This allowed them to really visualize the different categories instead of learning about them all at once. Everyone agreed that it really helped them learn the material better. \r\n\r\nAs you can see, the resources provided offered us several ways to use a hands on approach to learning instead of just traditional methods. The students all seem to love doing hands on projects to enhance their understanding of information. Without your donation. this would not have been possible.","fullyFundedDate":1756228839133,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning/9300830/","projectTitle":"Hands On Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Myrum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5780464_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1537306665085","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5780464"},{"teacherId":7034004,"projectId":9269947,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom and these amazing students. Today was the end of the quarter and as a reward for students with no missing work for this unit, we pulled out all the games! \r\n\r\nThey were absolutely thrilled getting to take them for a test ride and are excited for when we integrate the games into our curriculum. The classroom was filled with laughter, good natured competition, and even frustrated outbursts when they got buzzed in Operation! According to several of them, Operation is the most anxiety inducing game ever. 😂\r\n\r\nIt was such fun to reward students for their diligence this quarter and also to provide some anticipation for activities yet to come. They were so excited and had a really great day because of your generosity and I felt privileged and proud to bring it to them.\r\n\r\nOver the course of the rest of the year, we will utilize these games for teaching or reviewing concepts. The variety of treats are appreciated by everyone. \r\n\r\nThe games are also being used daily in my class, they work as excellent team builders and motivation for students that consistently finish early. Our school has a no-phone policy and having engaging games makes that easier for the students. \r\n\r\nThe bulletin boards materials make for great back drops for student work.
