Because of you, my students were able to experience learning in a hands-on, meaningful way that went far beyond folding paper. Watching them carefully follow directions, problem-solve, and persevere when things didn't work the first time has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nSome students became frustrated and wanted to give up, but with encouragement and patience, they pushed through—and the pride on their faces when they finished was priceless. Even students I never expected to enjoy hands-on activities truly thrived. A few were so excited that they asked to take extra paper home so they could keep creating birds on their own, which speaks volumes about the confidence and joy this project sparked.\r\n\r\nI also shared the story of the thousand cranes with my class. Now, they are eager to work together to create a thousand cranes to hang in our classroom as a symbol of perseverance, hope, and teamwork. None of this would have been possible without you. Because of your support, we have successfully acquired a comprehensive collection of TTRPG starter sets, effectively transforming our club's library overnight. These box sets are more than just cardboard and dice; they represent a massive expansion of the worlds we can explore together. It is thrilling to see our shelves stocked with these resources, and none of it would have been possible without your belief in our community.\r\n\r\nThe practical impact of these starter sets has been immediate and profound. Previously, introducing a new game system was a heavy lift, often requiring weeks of rule-reading and preparation. Now, thanks to the streamlined rules and pre-generated characters included in these sets, we can onboard new game systems rapidly. This allows us to sit down and start playing in a matter of minutes rather than hours, drastically lowering the barrier to entry for our players. We are no longer limited to just one or two major systems; we can now offer a rich variety of genres—from sci-fi to high fantasy to mystery—giving our players the freedom to choose the adventures that excite them most.\r\n\r\nUltimately, your gift is helping us grow our family. The variety we can now offer is a powerful draw for attracting new members who may have been intimidated by complex rulebooks but feel comfortable jumping into a \"starter\" experience. By offering a diverse menu of games, we are creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment where anyone can find a seat at the table. Thank you for giving us the tools to spark new imaginations and build lasting friendships; you have truly helped us roll a natural 20.","fullyFundedDate":1762124023620,"projectUrl":"project/beyond-the-veil/9651040/","projectTitle":"Beyond the Veil","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9001674_orig.png?crop=400,400,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758071230124","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/chsdnd"},{"teacherId":9001674,"projectId":9650813,"letterContent":"Please allow me to express my deepest gratitude for the generous donation of dice sets and pouches for our school's Dungeons & Dragons club. The impact of this contribution was felt immediately; the excitement in the room was palpable as we handed out these supplies to our newest members. For many of these students, holding their very own set of polyhedral dice marked the true beginning of their journey into tabletop roleplaying. It transformed a tentative interest into a tangible reality, giving them the tools they need to fully participate from day one without having to borrow from others or feel unprepared.\r\n\r\nBeyond the immediate excitement, these gifts have played a crucial role in lowering the barrier to entry for our students. While Dungeons & Dragons is an incredible outlet for creativity, literacy, and social-emotional learning, the cost of supplies can sometimes deter students from joining. By having these dice and pouches ready to freely give away, we ensure that financial constraints never prevent a student from pulling up a chair at our table. This gesture has fostered a profound sense of belonging and inclusion; receiving a personal set of dice signals to every new member that they are welcome, valued, and officially part of the guild.\r\n\r\nFinally, providing students with their own equipment encourages a sense of ownership and responsibility that extends beyond the game. These pouches allow students to care for their tools and bring them back week after week, solidifying their commitment to the club and their campaign groups. As they roll these dice to solve complex problems, collaborate on storytelling, and build camaraderie, they are building confidence that translates into the classroom and beyond. Thank you for investing in our students' imaginations and for helping us build a community where every adventurer has exactly what they need to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1762267751210,"projectUrl":"project/roll-with-us/9650813/","projectTitle":"Roll with Us!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9001674_orig.png?crop=400,400,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758071230124","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/chsdnd"},{"teacherId":9732742,"projectId":9761281,"letterContent":"As the school nurse, I use these resources to respond immediately when a student experiences low blood sugar during the school day. Fast-acting glucose is kept readily available so treatment can begin the moment symptoms appear. In one instance, a student arrived in the health room confused and shaky. Because supplies were on hand, treatment was given right away, blood sugar stabilized, and the student was able to safely return to class instead of requiring emergency services.\r\nStudents with diabetes expressed relief knowing the school had backup supplies available. Several shared that they worry about forgetting or running out of their own glucose during the day. Having these materials on campus reduced anxiety and helped them feel supported and safe at school. Other students gained a better understanding of how quickly low blood sugar can happen and why immediate treatment is necessary.\r\nWith these resources in place, students can remain in class and continue learning with fewer interruptions from preventable medical emergencies. Ongoing education and monitoring will continue so hypoglycemia is recognized early and treated promptly. These supplies will be maintained throughout the school year to ensure student safety, promote equity in care, and support consistent access to learning.","fullyFundedDate":1766155349587,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-and-juices-for-diabetic-students/9761281/","projectTitle":"Snacks and Juices for diabetic students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Loyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9732742"},{"teacherId":1469411,"projectId":9810145,"letterContent":"Thanks to the incredible generosity of Young Sheldon and DonorsChoose, my IB Film students at Central High School in Tuscaloosa now have the tools they need to create their own original music and sound design for their film projects. Now, they are producing their own soundtracks, creating foley effects, and experimenting with music transitions that match the mood and tone of their stories. It's amazing to watch them light up when they realize they made the music behind their own film scenes.\r\n\r\nAs a Title I school, resources like this are rare, but they make all the difference. My students are learning real-world production skills that prepare them for careers in film, music, and media. They are also gaining confidence in their abilities to think creatively and solve problems independently.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful to Young Sheldon and DonorsChoose for believing in public school classrooms and helping students see that their creativity and voices matter.
