Because of you, my students now have Chromebook charging stations that are designed for little hands—and that seemingly simple gift has made a meaningful, daily difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nBefore your support, managing our Chromebooks was a challenge I never anticipated. My students are eager learners and love using technology, but plugging in and unplugging their devices independently just wasn't developmentally appropriate for six- and seven-year-olds. Each day, valuable instructional time was spent with me moving from desk to desk, helping students plug in chargers, untangle cords, and make sure devices were safely connected. While I was happy to help, it meant less time for reading groups, math instruction, and one-on-one support—the moments that matter most in first grade.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, that has completely changed. The new charging stations are intuitive, safe, and easy for my students to use on their own. Now, my class confidently plugs in and unplugs their Chromebooks without assistance. The pride on their faces when they realized, \"I can do this myself!\" was priceless. You didn't just provide equipment—you gave my students independence, confidence, and ownership of their learning environment.\r\n\r\nHighland Park Elementary is a Title I first and second grade school, and many of our students face challenges outside the classroom that make school consistency and confidence even more important. Your generosity helps level the playing field for our children. It ensures that access to technology does not become a barrier, but instead a bridge to learning, creativity, and growth. Because of you, our classroom runs more smoothly, transitions are calmer, and learning time is protected.\r\nYour donation has also had a personal impact on me as a teacher. Fewer interruptions mean I can focus more fully on what I am here to do—teach, encourage, and build relationships with my students. I can sit with a struggling reader a little longer, challenge a student who is ready for more, or simply listen when a child needs to be heard. Those moments are only possible because you stepped in to support our classroom needs.\r\n\r\nPlease know that your kindness is felt every single day. When my students independently take care of their Chromebooks, they are reminded—whether they realize it or not—that there are people beyond our school walls who believe in them and care about their success. That message is powerful.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my first graders, their families, and myself, thank you for investing in our classroom and our future. Your generosity has made a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1759327278742,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-need-kid-friendly-storage-s/9741293/","projectTitle":"Little Hands Need Kid-Friendly Storage Solution","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lawler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5271040_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758407833849","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5271040"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11049","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":236,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"15.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":82.4,"schoolId":11049,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Highland Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Highland Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/muscle-shoals-city-school-district/highland-park-elementary-school/11049"}
