They crowded around the boxes, eagerly passing around pieces, testing ideas, and imagining what they could build. One student exclaimed, \"We can actually make our stories move now!\" while another immediately began sketching a plan for their first invention.\r\n\r\nSince then, these resources have opened up powerful opportunities for creativity and innovation. With the LEGO kits and tripods, students are writing scripts, designing sets, and producing stop motion films that bring their ideas to life. Their stories highlight gifted individuals who tackle challenges, invent new tools, and dream of stronger communities. At the same time, the Snap Circuits kits have added a thrilling layer of engineering—students are wiring alarms, lights, and fans into their projects, learning firsthand how electrical systems can make their imagined worlds more realistic.\r\n\r\nThe blend of art, storytelling, and STEM has transformed our classroom into a hub of invention. Students aren't just completing assignments; they're envisioning futures that reflect their lived experiences and exploring the real-world science that can make those futures possible.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to deepen this interdisciplinary work. Students are currently planning a showcase where they will share their stop motion films and engineered inventions with classmates and families. They are excited not only to present their finished projects, but also to explain the process of designing, building, and problem-solving along the way.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made this possible, and we are deeply grateful. Because of you, my students are not only learning—they are dreaming big, creating boldly, and building the skills to bring their visions to life.","fullyFundedDate":1747060080039,"projectUrl":"project/building-the-life-we-want/9325709/","projectTitle":"Building the Life We Want","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Merrill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4150772_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704399215069","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4150772"},{"teacherId":4150772,"projectId":9296455,"letterContent":"When our students first saw the new storage solutions arrive, their excitement was contagious. Many of them immediately began talking about how much easier it would be to keep their robotics builds, LEGO stop-motion sets, and Snap Circuits boards safe between classes. One student said, \"Now we don't have to start over every time—we can keep making it better!\" That sense of pride and ownership has made a big difference in their motivation.\r\n\r\nAlready, the storage has transformed the way we work on projects. For example, in our LEGO stop-motion unit, students can now carefully preserve their sets from one session to the next. Instead of spending half the class rebuilding, they dive right into storytelling and refining their animations. The same has been true with robotics: students are experimenting with more advanced coding and engineering challenges because they know their in-progress designs will be ready and waiting for them next time.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our class is to expand these projects into longer, more complex builds. With secure, organized storage in place, we can launch multi-week collaborative projects where students design, test, and revise prototypes over time. This continuity is helping them develop not just technical skills, but also perseverance, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made this possible. Because of your support, our students are learning that their ideas matter, that their hard work can be preserved, and that innovation happens when they're given the right tools and environment to thrive. Thank you for helping us build a classroom where creativity and curiosity have room to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1746535869723,"projectUrl":"project/storing-creativity/9296455/","projectTitle":"Storing Creativity!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Merrill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4150772_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704399215069","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4150772"},{"teacherId":10013297,"projectId":9318149,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to my project, Wired to Wiggle. Having additional seating options for my class will be so impactful for my students. I now have flexible seating options for over half of my class. This means that each week, multiple times a week, students will get to select seating to best meet their needs. Having agency to choose what best works for them will help students focus and feel empowered. \r\nAdditionally, having 12 pairs of headphones means that any student who forgets their headphones won't have to go without. Sometimes their headphones break or students may not have access to headphones. When 26 kids are working on computers at the same time, headphones are a must.
