The combination of visual storytelling and text captivates students who may have struggled to connect with traditional books. These novels provide context through illustrations, which helps students, especially English Language Learners and those with developing reading skills, to better understand the story. As a result, students who previously showed little interest in reading are now actively seeking out books and discussing them with their peers.\r\n\r\nGraphic novels also help to build important literacy skills, including comprehension, sequencing, and inference. The visual format encourages students to think critically about the story, analyze characters' emotions, and predict outcomes.
