My students are learning that practicing letters, sounds, and spelling doesn't have to mean sitting at a desk with a pencil and worksheet. With our new Play-Doh alphabet tools, they can touch it, build it, shape it, and say it!\r\n\r\nMy students especially enjoy using the letter molds to create letters while practicing their sounds. We use the materials during phonics instruction, small-group activities, literacy centers, and independent practice. Students can build letters, put them together to create words, and use their creations to reinforce the sounds we are learning. What might feel like \"just playing\" to them is actually meaningful literacy practice happening right in front of me!\r\n\r\nThe hands-on nature of these materials has been especially helpful for students who need additional support with early literacy skills. Some students learn best when they are able to move, touch, and physically interact with what they are learning. Being able to create a letter with their own hands gives them another way to connect the letter shape to its sound and helps make those connections more memorable.\r\n\r\nI have also loved watching the confidence that comes with this type of learning. Students who may hesitate when asked to write a letter or spell a word on paper are often much more willing to try when they can first build it with Play-Doh. They are excited to show me what they created, explain the sounds they used, and try again when something doesn't look quite right.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials have helped make phonics fun. First grade is such an important year for building the foundation of reading, and I want my students to see themselves as capable readers and writers. Giving them engaging tools to practice these skills helps create a classroom where learning feels exciting rather than intimidating.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and giving them another way to learn, practice, create, and grow.
