For example, during our recent unit on the muscular system, students worked in small groups to identify and label major muscle groups directly on the life-size model. This activity sparked rich discussions as they compared what they saw on the model to what we had diagrammed in their notebooks. One student even said, \"It's like the book came alive!\"\r\n\r\nThe excitement was unforgettable the first day we unveiled the models. Many of my students audibly gasped and crowded around, pointing out bones and organs they had only ever seen in 2D diagrams. Several immediately asked, \"Can we use this today?\" Their curiosity and eagerness set the tone for the lesson, and since then, their level of engagement has only grown.\r\n\r\nCurrently, my students are working on a project where they trace the path of oxygen through the human body. With the life-size model, they are able to physically follow the respiratory system, connect it to the circulatory system, and visualize how oxygen moves through the body. This kind of hands-on exploration is deepening their understanding and helping them make connections that are often difficult to grasp from text alone.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a lasting difference in my students' learning experience. Because of you, abstract concepts are becoming real, tangible, and memorable. You didn't just bring models into our classroom—you brought anatomy to life for the next generation of scientists, doctors, and health professionals.","fullyFundedDate":1746478975584,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-anatomy-to-life-with-life-size/9104576/","projectTitle":"Bringing Anatomy to Life with Life-Size Models!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Patel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9776309_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735930201467","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9776309"},{"teacherId":6905837,"projectId":8834827,"letterContent":"This project had a profound impact on the students at GHS, particularly the young women who often face challenges related to menstrual hygiene and access to basic necessities. By providing sanitary napkin storage bags, pads, and feminine wipes, the initiative helped to remove a significant source of stress and embarrassment for these students.\r\n\r\nFor many of these students, who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, affording period products can be difficult, and the stigma surrounding menstruation can add to their discomfort. This project not only provided them with essential hygiene items but also gave them a sense of dignity and confidence. By addressing a fundamental need, it allowed students to focus more on their education without the added worry of how they would manage their periods at school.\r\n\r\nBeyond the physical products, the project reinforced a message of care and support. Knowing that their teacher and others in the community were invested in their well-being helped the students feel seen, valued, and empowered. In an environment where they already face numerous hardships—such as environmental concerns, food insecurity, and challenging family dynamics—this initiative created a small but meaningful improvement in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nUltimately, the project fostered a more inclusive and supportive school environment, ensuring that no student had to feel ashamed or disadvantaged due to something as natural as menstruation. It not only met their basic hygiene needs but also contributed to their emotional well-being, self-esteem, and ability to engage fully in their education.","fullyFundedDate":1734294345268,"projectUrl":"project/so-fresh-so-clean-period/8834827/","projectTitle":"So Fresh, So Clean, Period","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Angelicia Roberson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6905837_orig.jpg?crop=360,360,x0,y146&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731523365880","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6905837"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15012","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":522,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":72,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":27.0,"schoolId":15012,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Greenville High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Greenville High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/butler-county-school-district/greenville-high-school/15012"}
