Many of them immediately shared how much it meant to have access to these essentials at school. For some, it was the first time they were able to choose items they needed without worry, and the sense of relief and pride was written all over their faces.\r\n\r\nWe've been using these resources as part of our lessons in social and emotional learning, daily living skills, and job readiness. For example, during a recent project on workplace readiness, students practiced preparing for interviews. Having access to hygiene items allowed them to not only look but also feel their best—boosting their confidence and giving them the reassurance that they could present themselves professionally. One student even shared, \"Now I don't have to stress about how I'll look when I go to work.\" Moments like that remind us just how powerful your generosity is.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our students is continuing to build confidence and independence as they move toward life after high school. We'll keep connecting these resources to real-world skills—whether it's preparing for a job interview, learning about self-care, or practicing everyday routines that support their health and success.","fullyFundedDate":1726648610744,"projectUrl":"project/abbasis-project-hygiene/8656341/","projectTitle":"Abbasi’s Project Hygiene","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Abbasi Telesco","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7473152_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663702665319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7473152"},{"teacherId":8351616,"projectId":9062060,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, our classroom now has a reliable desktop computer that has already made a big difference in how I teach and how my students learn. It's the middle of the school year and for most of them, their handheld magnifiers have already been scratched or even misplaced. These small items make a HUGE difference for my students with visual impairments in their daily lives! Due to the fact that their vision can fluctuate depending on the type of visual impairment and since the size of the print for handouts and books can vary from class to class, having these handheld dome and bar magnifiers allows my students to be able to comfortably visually access what they are reading in school. Not all students need or want to use large print materials, so having a visual tool that they can easily carry with them throughout the day to use as needed is a great solution. Whether it's maps in History class, diagrams in Science class or graphs in Math class, their new magnifiers can be easily moved across the page to enlarge the print and fine details. Your support has had an incredible impact on our students, and I'm excited to share how the resources you provided — a Cricut Explorer 3 and heat press — have enriched our learning environment.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these tools, our students have dived into hands-on creative projects that have allowed them to develop valuable skills. One of the most exciting projects so far was creating custom keychains, ornaments, and even personalized pencil bags. These projects were not only fun but also gave the students the opportunity to practice and refine their measuring, design, and crafting techniques.\r\n\r\nThe students were absolutely thrilled when they first saw the Cricut Explorer 3 and heat press. Their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. It was evident that they felt empowered by the new technology, and it sparked their creativity in ways I hadn't anticipated. Many students dedicated extra time outside of class to master the Cricut Design Space, a crucial skill that has been incredibly enriching. They learned how to layer images, edit text, and even work with intricate vinyl designs. These hard skills are more than just techniques—they're tools that will serve them for years to come, whether in school or beyond.\r\n\r\nCurrently, the class is working on designing Black History Month t-shirts and stickers, which has been both a meaningful and educational project. The students are learning about influential figures in Black history while applying their design skills to create unique and powerful representations. This project also helps them develop a deeper sense of cultural appreciation and historical understanding.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve refining our designs and using the heat press to bring the students' visions to life. They are gaining confidence and independence in using the Cricut, and many students have expressed how excited they are to apply these skills to future projects.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our students have a deeper understanding of design, crafting, and even entrepreneurship. I am so grateful for the opportunity to watch them grow and discover new passions. Your support has truly made a difference, and we can't wait to continue exploring the endless possibilities that these tools bring.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for being a part of this incredible journey with us.","fullyFundedDate":1733366895792,"projectUrl":"project/crafting-young-entrepreneurs-empowering/8854316/","projectTitle":"Crafting Young Entrepreneurs: Empowering Students Through Creativity and Business","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mojica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7422968_orig.jpg?crop=1883,1883,x0,y548&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597190628704","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-cmojica"},{"teacherId":6921524,"projectId":6282429,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students at Ossining High School, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous donation of clay materials. Thanks to your kindness, we were able to bring an important environmental science lesson to life through a hands-on project focused on the devastating effects of oil spills on marine animals.\r\n\r\nThis project was designed to help students explore the impact of human activities on ecosystems and foster empathy for the natural world. Using the clay you provided, students created realistic models of animals commonly affected by oil spills, such as sea turtles, seals, pelicans, and fish. They then simulated oil spill scenarios to understand the challenges of cleaning up wildlife and the importance of preventative measures.\r\n\r\nThrough this experience, students:\r\n\r\nLearned about the science of oil spills and their environmental impact.\r\nDiscussed real-world solutions for minimizing ecological damage.\r\nReflected on the role of conservation and responsible human behavior.\r\nOne student shared, \"Making the clay animals helped me understand how much effort it takes to help wildlife recover after an oil spill. It made me want to take better care of our environment.\"\r\n\r\nYour support not only provided the materials for this activity but also sparked meaningful conversations and inspired a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens.
