It was wonderful being able to treat my photography students to mental health resources, whether they had a traumatic/triggering experience or not. The stress balls and squishies were their favorite part. At first I passed them out as a resource for managing tension and stress when things got intense in my classroom, and then it became an incentive for class engagement and participation. Over time, students would come up to me to request them, and I could tell, that similarly to the fidgets provided, they helped students to regulate their central nervous system.\r\n\r\nWe also created a coffee shop inspired corner in my classroom with the funded materials, that added elements of nature and calm into the room. Students were able to sit in the provided chairs and practice mindfulness using the 8-ball and mental health cards. We are in immense gratitude for your assistance in seeding this idea. It is my hope that our students will continue these practices in their day to day lives.","fullyFundedDate":1723467996030,"projectUrl":"project/inner-city-teens-in-need-of-mental-emo/8565823/","projectTitle":"Inner-City Teens in Need of Mental & Emotional Health Support","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mason","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8846569_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714606298029","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8846569"},{"teacherId":8846569,"projectId":9144984,"letterContent":"Jazzy Sundays was a HIT! Our students had the ability to work 4 consecutive weeks at Jazzy Sundays in the Park, a free concert series featuring local and renowned musicians, such as Robert Glasper and J. We were able to mitigate the concerns of daylight savings time, where in the past the sunset limited our ability to capture quality images at night.\r\n\r\nOur student genuinely enjoyed the new light, which continues to be a staple in our classroom portrait sessions. As a result, I have two students who have stepped up into roles as campus photographers for the variety of events that take place.","fullyFundedDate":1741457784980,"projectUrl":"project/jazzy-sundays-student-photo-booth-in-th/9144984/","projectTitle":"Jazzy Sundays: Student Photo Booth in the Park","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mason","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8846569_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714606298029","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8846569"},{"teacherId":8846569,"projectId":8395169,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping our photography class to access high quality photography/art books to deepen our study of photographic practices. The careers of our shared futures will require our youth to step outside of the bounds of their personal fears of big technological systems. Introducing our students to a more tactile process with their photographic works has been a major boost in my self-esteem as an educator and in their understanding of the evolution of the craft. \r\n\r\nWe have had the opportunity to explore button making and cyanotypes through the use of the materials donated. We are still aiming to digitize the archive of negatives left behind, where we will put to use the kodak negative scanner. Additionally, the memory card readers and ring light have been in everyday use in our classes as our students have worked to strengthen their portfolios. We have many students who have taken the experiences in the classroom and applied it to their own entrepreneurial efforts in photography.","fullyFundedDate":1720507445217,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-photography-class-working-to/8394853/","projectTitle":"High-School Photography Class Working Towards Future Careers In STEM!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mason","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8846569_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714606298029","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8846569"},{"teacherId":8846569,"projectId":8358251,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support for our hands-on application of photography systems.
