Many of these students are from very small elementary schools and can struggle in the larger setting. They are learning advocacy skills and how to pause before reacting to a difficult situation. \r\n\r\nMy students are also learning to be proactive and to incorporate executive functioning strategies, such as calendaring skills, chunking long term assignments and the importance of time management. They are growing in their willingness to ask for help and to take responsibility for their choices and their own learning.\r\n\r\nWe begin each class with a question from the question pack, and this starts some great conversations and community building for the students. The chair bands have worked great for students, and students fought over who got to use them in the beginning! We had a few extra bands, so we were able to share with some general education teachers, and they report that students also love using them to help regulate their movement during classes.","fullyFundedDate":1758636518293,"projectUrl":"project/emotional-regulation-in-middle-school/9588131/","projectTitle":"Emotional Regulation in Middle School","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. BRIDWELL","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9459843"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35387","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":450,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":35387,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Woodstock Union High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Woodstock Union High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/vermont/windsor-central-su-51/woodstock-union-high-school/35387"}
