The items from this project are being used daily in our classroom as part of our routine to ensure students who arrive hungry—or become hungry during the day—have what they need to stay engaged. One moment that truly stood out was watching a student who often struggles to concentrate visibly relax and participate more confidently after having access to a snack. Something as simple as nourishment has made a meaningful difference in both behavior and academic engagement.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first learned that new supplies had arrived just for them, their reactions were filled with excitement and relief. Many expressed gratitude in their own ways—smiles, increased participation, and verbal excitement—because they felt seen and cared for. These resources didn't just meet a physical need; they reinforced the message that their well-being matters. The classroom atmosphere became calmer and more productive almost immediately, allowing learning to happen more naturally.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to support our ongoing lessons by helping students remain focused during instruction, small-group work, and independent tasks. As we work toward building stronger academic and social-emotional skills, having basic needs met is essential. Although I was unable to upload photos due to parent consent restrictions regarding public posting on DonorsChoose, please know that your support is making a real, daily impact. On behalf of my students and our classroom community, thank you for helping ensure that no child in the Forrest has to learn while hungry.","fullyFundedDate":1739733707092,"projectUrl":"project/dont-go-hungry-in-the-forrest/8908141/","projectTitle":"Don't Go Hungry in the Forrest","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Wigfall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6902168_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1672282661212","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/buildinglegacieskeepingreaditions"},{"teacherId":8543331,"projectId":8228596,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting our sensory unit! The new materials have already made a big difference in our Pre-K classroom. My students light up each time they explore the textures, colors, and sounds of the sensory tools. One special moment was when a student who is usually hesitant to join group activities eagerly reached for the sensory bin and began engaging with peers—it was such a breakthrough!\r\n\r\nThese resources give my students safe and exciting ways to regulate their emotions, build fine motor skills, and focus during lessons. We are currently using them during circle time, transitions, and small group activities, and I can see the growth in their confidence and participation.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be incorporating the sensory items into our upcoming fall-themed projects, like exploring textures with leaves and pumpkins.
