Students use them during independent work time, small-group instruction, and even while transitioning between activities. One memorable moment was during a writing lesson—several students who typically struggle to stay regulated were able to remain focused for the entire activity simply by having access to a quiet sensory tool. It was the calmest, most productive writing block we've had all year.\r\n\r\nThey were thrilled. Many of them immediately identified the items they knew would help them, and several excitedly said, \"These are for us?!\" A few students who are usually hesitant to try new things were eager to explore the textures and tools. The smiles and curiosity were priceless. \r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on building stamina for longer academic tasks and developing self-regulation strategies. These sensory resources will continue to support students as they practice staying engaged during reading and writing lessons. Our next step is teaching students how to independently select and use the sensory tools that best support their needs, helping them grow into more confident, self-aware learners.","fullyFundedDate":1758636499003,"projectUrl":"project/focus-and-flow-funds/9682865/","projectTitle":"Focus and Flow Funds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Foltz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8041250_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x4,y12&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651585382003","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8041250"},{"teacherId":3792987,"projectId":9132052,"letterContent":"I would like to take this time to thank you so much for investing in our class! The fidget spinners and stress balls have been particularly helpful for students who struggle with focus or anxiety. These tools provide a much-needed outlet for restlessness, allowing them to concentrate more effectively during lessons. The texture toys have also been a hit, especially during moments when students need to calm down or self-regulate. Whether it's the smoothness of the textured surfaces or the tactile stimulation, these items help students stay grounded and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stands out was during a recent art project. We were working on a group mural where students used the colored pencils to express their creativity while also practicing teamwork. As soon as they saw the colored pencils, their eyes lit up—they were so excited to have a fresh set of supplies, and it really inspired them to dive into the project with enthusiasm. The colorful tools sparked their imagination and encouraged them to work together, creating beautiful artwork while practicing collaboration and communication.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' reactions were priceless. Some of them immediately grabbed the stress balls, while others eagerly tried out the fidget spinners to see how they worked. It was clear they felt a sense of ownership and joy knowing they now had tools to help them succeed and feel more comfortable in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next classroom lesson will build on these resources as we continue to explore mindfulness and self-regulation techniques. We will be using fidget tools during reading time and independent work periods to help students stay focused, calm, and engaged. Additionally, we plan to introduce a \"Calm and Create\" art project, where students will use the colored pencils and texture toys to explore emotions through drawing and coloring. These projects will not only enhance their fine motor skills but also provide a creative outlet for emotional expression.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your kindness and belief in our students. Your support has made a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful for your generosity. We look forward to sharing more moments of growth and success with you in the future!","fullyFundedDate":1732718978609,"projectUrl":"project/calm-and-connected-exploring-the-power/8944650/","projectTitle":"Calm and Connected: Exploring the Power of Sensory","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Foltz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8041250_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x4,y12&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651585382003","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8041250"},{"teacherId":3792987,"projectId":8824692,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my project for a book makeover.
