Thanks to your thoughtful contributions of small whiteboards, dry-erase markers, erasers, and a classroom printer, my students in Spanish, College Advising, and Career Pathways are learning and engaging in new and exciting ways every day.\r\n\r\nBringing Lessons to Life\r\n\r\nThe small white boards have transformed daily lessons into interactive learning experiences. In Spanish class, students hold up answers to vocabulary and grammar prompts, allowing for immediate feedback and lively participation. During College Advising and Career Pathways sessions, the boards are used for brainstorming, quick reflections, and group planning, helping students collaborate and think critically in real time.\r\n\r\nTools for Active Engagement\r\n\r\nDry-erase markers and erasers have encouraged a risk-free environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and trying again. This simple ability to \"wipe and revise\" has strengthened their confidence and deepened their understanding of key concepts across all three courses.\r\n\r\nEssential Classroom Support\r\n\r\nThe classroom printer has been equally transformative. From printing college applications and resumes to creating personalized Spanish practice sheets and career exploration handouts, the printer ensures that every student has immediate access to the resources they need to succeed. It has also allowed me to respond quickly with differentiated materials to meet individual learning needs.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, lessons are more dynamic, feedback is immediate, and student voices are at the center of the learning process. You have helped create a classroom where students feel empowered, prepared, and enthusiastic about learning.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for believing in their potential and for helping us build a vibrant, engaging, and well-equipped learning space.","fullyFundedDate":1746786987758,"projectUrl":"project/an-engaging-spanish-class/9223489/","projectTitle":"An Engaging Spanish Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gould","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7230035_orig.jpg?crop=1245,1245,x622,y647&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764085174242","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7230035"},{"teacherId":7143854,"projectId":8852198,"letterContent":"Thank you for the support. The snacks from this project were shared with scholars at my school during the afternoon portion of the day. This provided scholars with a little pick-me-upper to continue to muscle through the day.\r\n\r\nThis is the year that students were fueled with a lot of love from donors with snacks and we appreciate that so many individuals took the time out from their day to donate so that girls would have a snack to eat when they felt tired or just needed something to chew on. \r\n\r\nFrom my entire school, I thank you for once again for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1734658510497,"projectUrl":"project/snack-attack/8852198/","projectTitle":"Snack Attack","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Campbell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7143854_orig.jpg?crop=1073,1073,x0,y165&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1685474438604","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7143854"},{"teacherId":9755113,"projectId":8989924,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students were able to explore history in creative and meaningful ways! They absolutely loved the art supplies and used them to recreate beautiful Renaissance pieces and bring their feudalism projects to life. It was amazing to see them dive into the past with imagination and pride—some even added their own twists and flourishes that showed how deeply they connected with the work.\r\n\r\nThey were especially excited about the new fidget and stim tools, which helped many of them stay focused and calm during lessons. And let's not forget the whiteboards! Those quickly became a class favorite for review games—full of energy, laughter, and learning.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a group of students hold up their mini whiteboards in unison, cheering when they got a tricky Regents-style question right. That kind of joy in learning is priceless.\r\n\r\nUp next, we'll be using these same tools to prepare for the Global Regents exam—and I already plan to reuse these successful lessons with my next group of students in the fall. Your support didn't just impact this class—it's shaping the future of my classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us make history come alive!","fullyFundedDate":1740015234325,"projectUrl":"project/empowerment-essentials-fueling-creativi/8989924/","projectTitle":"Empowerment Essentials: Fueling Creativity, Calm, and Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moten","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9755113_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733345161792","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9755113"},{"teacherId":9756455,"projectId":8797776,"letterContent":"My students and I have greatly benefitted from the generous donation of new resources. We have integrated these materials into our regular classroom activities, such as creating visual representations of group work on chart paper, as well as incorporating them into art projects tied to specific units of study. One project that the ninth grade students especially enjoyed was the Renaissance Project. In this activity, students researched an Italian Renaissance figure, then selected one of that individual's artworks to replicate. With access to a variety of markers, paints, and Model Magic, the students had the opportunity to experiment with different mediums to complete their projects.\r\n\r\nAnother project, with the eleventh grade, centered around key figures from the Gilded Age. Students researched influential individuals such as Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and Henry Ford, among others. After completing their research, they created decorated boxes (cubes) that showcased their findings and answered specific questions about each figure. The students had a lot of fun with this activity, and both my co-teacher and I were thrilled to see full engagement from every student throughout the project.\r\n\r\nThe excitement around the new art supplies was recognizable. The students were particularly enthusiastic about the diverse colors of markers and paints, and many expressed how much they appreciated being able to incorporate art into their studies. Many remarked that this creative approach helped them connect more deeply with the historical material we covered in class.\r\n\r\nAs the school year comes to a close, my co-teachers and I are already planning ways to continue integrating art into our lessons next year. We were fortunate to be able to utilize these materials across several classes, and we're eager to expand on this success moving forward.","fullyFundedDate":1736859865057,"projectUrl":"project/history-is-artistic-and-art-is-historica/8797776/","projectTitle":"History is Artistic and Art is Historical","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Blake","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9756455"},{"teacherId":7143854,"projectId":8611570,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing me with the materials to organize my classroom. In the bins on the tables, I hold resources for my students. I have one class with five different languages, the bins were large enough to hold dictionaries from multiple languages. Also, in the bins I have smaller containers where I placed pens, pencils, and highlighters for students to use if they do not have one of their own. \r\n\r\nOn the teacher's cabinet, I appreciate the black bins. I use the set to hold student work. For example, when scholars come in with their homework, they place their assignments in the slots labeled for their class. This helps to prevent papers from being misplaced because students and I have a visual space where they can leave materials.\r\n\r\nSo, my sincere gratitude in helping me organize where resources are more student centered and autonomous.","fullyFundedDate":1730406109200,"projectUrl":"project/chic-organization/8611570/","projectTitle":"Chic Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Campbell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7143854_orig.jpg?crop=1073,1073,x0,y165&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1685474438604","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7143854"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18668","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":168,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.8,"schoolId":18668,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Women's Academy of Excellence on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Women's Academy of Excellence","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/women-s-academy-of-excellence/18668"}
