I knew how much a color printer would transform learning for my multilingual students at Witchcraft Heights Elementary School. Seeing a dear friend, and some complete strangers step in and support them so generously truly moved me. Your kindness reminded me that there are people out there who believe in joyful, equitable learning just as much as we do.\r\n\r\nThe day the printer arrived, my students felt like it was their birthday, a holiday, and a surprise party all rolled into one. My second graders were whisper-shouting, \"Is it for US?!\" Even before we opened the box, one student said, \"It must be something special.\" They were absolutely buzzing with excitement.\r\n\r\nWe carefully unpacked the printer together, and the kids were amazed by how colorful everything looked... even the printer test page got a round of applause. One of my newcomers from Guatemala said quietly, \"Look at the colors!\" Another student added, \"We can see things that look REAL.\"\r\n\r\nThis school year, I'm excited to see my students create materials that help them see themselves, their languages, and their cultures in our classroom every day. With this printer, they were able to make color print outs of the flags from their home countries, multilingual alphabet cards, bilingual vocabulary booklets, personal photo dictionaries, and visual supports that make learning more accessible for all learners. \r\n\r\nOne student told me she can't wait to \"print stories in Spanish AND English so everyone can read them,\" and another said, \"I want to make labels with pictures so I can show my mom what we do in school.\" Students also created \"How-To\" articles and included pictures of themselves demonstrating the steps of the topics they chose. That sense of empowerment, seeing themselves as creators, not just learners, is exactly what this gift makes possible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity will impact hundreds of multilingual learners at Witchcraft Heights, not just this year, but for years to come. Thank you for giving them access to materials that reflect who they are, support how they learn, and celebrate every language they bring to our school community.\r\n\r\nWith deep gratitude,\r\nJill Girard\r\nWitchcraft Heights Elementary School\r\nSalem, MA","fullyFundedDate":1742909059631,"projectUrl":"project/colorful-visuals-for-my-multilingual-stu/9137216/","projectTitle":"Colorful Visuals For My Multilingual Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Girard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3509084"},{"teacherId":1409231,"projectId":9015003,"letterContent":"My project \"Bilingual Books for Babies\" has brought a lot of joy to my school's bilingual community!\r\n\r\nThis project's purpose was to bring attention to the importance of early literacy in our multilingual families. My 4th and 5th grade students have learned that reading can start at an early age because they have seen the impact of these books in their homes already. They report that interacting with their baby siblings now has allowed them to stay away from technology and focus on playing school with the babies and toddlers at home. The books were introduced and distributed during a family night event along with information and ways to improve literacy from an early age.\r\n\r\nWhether bilingual books like \"Haz un Pastel/Pat-A-Cake\" or books in English like \"little Cloud\", cardboard pages, fabric, or tactile, these books constitute a the first step into the literacy journey of these babies.
