Since getting more books and science activities, I have been able to make themed science units. \r\n\r\nThe first theme, trees, explored the changes happening in fall to trees (we used the new tree blocks) along with apple and pumpkin activities (apple and pumpkin sorting trees). Now we are learning about the human body then will move on to a snow unit. We will learn about animal habits during the winter and make snow from the pretend snow that was donated! \r\nOne donation my students received were lab coats and googles. They love dressing up like \"scientists\" and using their five senses to learn and explore. \r\nAttached are some pictures of the tree unit. \r\nAgain, thank you for helping support my future scientists!!","fullyFundedDate":1761150663592,"projectUrl":"project/calling-all-future-scientists/9490783/","projectTitle":"Calling All Future Scientists!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10088917_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y136&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753302805750","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10088917"},{"teacherId":8187066,"projectId":8527697,"letterContent":"We have been able to utilize this room already to provide play therapy services for over a dozen students with more to come in the spring semester. The students have shown growth both during sessions in the play room and in their classrooms as well with emotional regulation, ability to be more self-directed, following limits, and using their words to verbalize their wants and needs. We are also going to be able to use their room with our graduate level counseling intern who is coming to provide sessions to students in the spring! \r\nThe students love the wide array of materials and particularly gravitate towards the realistic play sections, dramatic/dress up play, sand tray and different vehicles and animals. They are able to convey all their different emotional states be it aggression with the bop bag, care taking with the baby dolls or kitchen, or needs for control by being a police officer! Thank you again for such a wonderful assortment of items to allow these students to have a safe place with the materials they need to process through whatever they are going through.
