They are learning how to sew by hand, sew with the machines, and even upgrade their own clothing from home! It has been so rewarding to see them complete projects all on their own. It has also been a great way for students to teach one another. I have only had to show four students how to set up a sewing machine. Since then, others have volunteered to help if they hear a student asking for me to help the with a machine. My class is mostly 8th graders and 6th graders, so it has been especially great to have those two groups of kids come together the way they are in class. \r\nOne of my students chose his pillows from my sewing class as his showcase project for 8th grade. He shared the impact of sewing on his anger and ADHD. He said he never thought he would enjoy sewing, but it helps keep him calm, he is motivated to finish projects he starts, and it's helped his hand-eye coordination. This specific student has had to grow up too fast at home, and seeing him enjoy himself with his friends while sewing of all things, is one of the best parts of my morning! \r\nI have another 8th grader who has created two stuffed animals. She created a rabbit and is currently working on the sun hat for her bear. She works so fast that I get so excited to hear what her next idea is! She was also one of the first to use the sewing machines! \r\nThis has been one of the best classes I have ever taught, and it is all thanks to your donations. I appreciate this with all my heart, because these machines can be used for years to come and I'm excited to see how many more students can learn this invaluable skill.","fullyFundedDate":1768510049632,"projectUrl":"project/threads-of-creativity/9717792/","projectTitle":"Threads of Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Conde","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9634393_orig.jpg?crop=879,879,x21,y9&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723135934187","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9634393"},{"teacherId":7926638,"projectId":9794463,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and making it possible for my students to have a class set of Scythe.
