They have learned that it is not a table to climb on and it cannot be used as a bench. Some of our kiddos have also learned how to turn the table light on and off. If they feel like using it, they will turn the room lights off and turn the table light on independently. \r\n\r\nThe have also learned to use different sides of the table as well as share the lego pieces. We have also been using our colorful see through magnets to build different things. The light table is available for our kiddos during specific times of their day when they are able to do sensory activities.\r\n\r\nOur light table creates a very calm environment for all the sensory activities we can do when it is in use. Our classroom is cool, calm, dark, and quiet. It is a time of working on different skills such as turn taking, sharing, and mindful playing. We are all so grateful for your donations to make our learning environment fun. I want to thank you for that. When our state testing was over, I felt so relieved to have these great tools to offer the students. \r\n\r\nKids today spend too much time looking at screens. While computers do help students learn and develop skill, they also lack a hands-on quality. These cardboard building tools are the opposite. Students had a fabulous time designing and making games that they enjoyed together, both inside and outside. I loved seeing the tangible results of their ideas through their play. They designed, drew, cut, and joined cardboard to make trains, houses, beds, phones, and carnival games. \r\n\r\nThank you for providing these healthy and fun activities. I believe that we encouraged old fashioned fun through this project that students may continue to enjoy all summer. I think they have more of a taste for inexpensive, creative, hands-on play because of your contribution.","fullyFundedDate":1742917148581,"projectUrl":"project/cardboard-building/9120223/","projectTitle":"Cardboard Building","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Houston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2375127_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1566774503125","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-vickland"},{"teacherId":2375127,"projectId":8977053,"letterContent":"My students can't get enough of the Dot Cards from this project! They love how they can get immediate feedback on their answers, instead of providing answers on paper and then waiting for a teacher to give them corrections in a day or two. \r\n\r\nStudents have shown a lot of enthusiasm for the pizza fractions as well. The Learning Resources Pizza Fraction Fun Game that you gave us has been very helpful to our young scholars. I've seen kids choose to play with the pizza fractions when given free time. I love how energetic and joyful students are to learn fractions this way. This too is better than having students write answers on worksheets and then wait for the teacher to respond much later. Through their engagement in this game, kids help each other learn fractions. I can come and discuss the fractions with kids as they play, and then walk away with a better understanding of how well the students are understanding the math involved. I love to teach and assess in this very positive and encouraging way.\r\n\r\nFinally, I want to thank you for the visual multiplication flash cards. I love how they reinforce the concepts of multiplication while also giving self correcting support for memorization. \r\n\r\nAll of the learning tools that you provided us with have helped our 3rd graders learn and remember foundational math concepts. You've given students the freedom to play with friends while learning. This is a wonderful thing. You put important reading tools in our hands. I aim to inform and motivate my students, and the books that you gave to us are just what we need. I now have a handy guide to explain what's happening in the brain when learning occurs, which is fascinating and useful for kids to discover. \r\n\r\nI am also able to use the kid friendly books that explain spelling rules to reach students that need special interventions. Some kids need a new approach to understand and remember rules about doubling letters or using silent e; these illustrated books do just that.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, the Here's Hank books have been fabulous for some reluctant readers in class. I've been thrilled to see that some kids that typically resist reading have chosen to read the silly books about Hank. I appreciate how the author, a dyslexic person himself, uses a special font that is easier for people with dyslexia to read. I am so happy that we have these books available to the class. We have more successful readers in class because of your help.","fullyFundedDate":1732706301488,"projectUrl":"project/clue-me-in/8913950/","projectTitle":"Clue Me In!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Houston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2375127_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1566774503125","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-vickland"},{"teacherId":2375127,"projectId":9006953,"letterContent":"After the Flat Stanley play that our kids participated in, everyone was especially enthusiastic about the Flat Stanley universe. The kids greedily clamored for books that take place all over the USA and throughout the world. The books are fun and informative at once. They are short but substantial for 3rd grade readers, providing ideal reading practice. To add to the excitement, kids that acted in the play signed the books that our class got to take home for the summer. \r\n\r\nI believe that your donation helped readers continue to grow and learn in third grade and beyond. I'm delighted to see how much kids are hooked on the games and other materials that you provided us with. \r\n\r\nNobody can resist the play money. For one 5th grader, money made our math lesson cool enough for him to let down his guard and give place value his undivided attention. Many students have seemed disappointed when our time with the school money ends. \r\n\r\nRight now, I have a group of girls that keep wanting to play the Allowance game. There is one student who keeps reminding me that she would love to take the game home if I ever get tired of it. A struggling student of mine was eager to find out the names and values of the coins in the game. It was a pleasure to see her practicing skip counting so joyfully. Often, these same concepts taught in other ways make student minds turn off and switch to daydreaming. Thank you again and again for making these math concepts fun. Students that play the game love to land on squares that allow them to earn money, and they scorn the squares that force them to spend money. \r\n\r\nNo matter who seems ahead, students don't tire of the games and activities that you gave us. Rather, it's always the limit of time that forces us to stop playing with math and money.
