Because of your support, my students have turned a simple classroom lesson into a school-wide movement for the planet.\r\n\r\nBringing Our Vision to Life\r\nWe used the new button-making machine and supplies to launch our \"Wear the Change\" project. My students spent the week researching environmental issues they care about—like ocean conservation and urban gardening—and translated those passions into small-scale circular art. These buttons weren't just a craft; they served as the final \"publication\" of their research.\r\n\r\nA Spark of Excitement\r\nWhen I first unboxed the materials, the classroom energy was electric. One student gasped and asked, \"Wait, we get to make real buttons like the ones in stores?\" Their reaction was a mix of disbelief and pure creative drive. Seeing their own digital and hand-drawn designs pressed into a professional, shiny badge gave them a sense of pride I haven't seen all year. It transformed them from students into creators and activists.","fullyFundedDate":1769178043393,"projectUrl":"project/designing-change-student-made-buttons-f/9764285/","projectTitle":"Designing Change: Student-Made Buttons for Environmental Awareness","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Yu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5086723_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1520548863226","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jinhuiyu"},{"teacherId":5086723,"projectId":9764309,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom by helping us get a new printer. Your generosity truly makes a difference in our daily learning.\r\n\r\nThis printer has already made our classroom more efficient. I can prepare materials more quickly and spend more time focusing on teaching and supporting students instead of troubleshooting or waiting for shared resources. Even more importantly, students now have access to color copies when it really matters—especially for math and STEM lessons where seeing colored shapes, diagrams, and models helps them understand concepts more clearly.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, having clear, colorful visuals makes learning feel more accessible and engaging. Something as simple as a color copy can turn confusion into understanding, and that impact adds up every day.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and investing in our students. Your support directly improves how we learn and grow together.","fullyFundedDate":1764712698454,"projectUrl":"project/a-printer-a-classroom-essential-for-lea/9764309/","projectTitle":"A Printer: a Classroom Essential for Learning and Family Connections","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Yu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5086723_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1520548863226","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jinhuiyu"},{"teacherId":5086723,"projectId":9012996,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in getting LEGO SPIKE sets into our classroom! My students absolutely lit up the moment they saw them—they couldn't wait to dive in and start building. We're using the SPIKE kits in two main ways: once a week, we set aside a \"STEM Day\" where everyone gets hands-on experience with coding and engineering, and we also use them as a fun challenge for students who finish their math work early. It's incredible watching them team up to create robots and tinker with code in real time.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened on our very first STEM Day with the LEGO SPIKE sets. The room was buzzing with excitement as students figured out how to make their robots move. When one team finally got their robot rolling forward—just like they'd planned—everyone cheered as if they'd just landed on the moon! You could practically see their confidence levels soar right along with their creations.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to push the limits of what they can do, adding sensors and more advanced programming. Thanks to your generosity, these young inventors can dream big and keep exploring new ways to apply their creativity. I can't thank you enough for being part of this journey with us. Stay tuned for more updates on our budding engineers!","fullyFundedDate":1735421365622,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-stem-learning-lego-spike-robot/9012996/","projectTitle":"Hands-On STEM Learning: LEGO Spike Robotics for Future Innovators","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Yu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5086723_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1520548863226","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jinhuiyu"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32877","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":331,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":49,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"18.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.8,"schoolId":32877,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about William Land Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"William Land Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sacramento-city-unified-school-district/william-land-elementary-school/32877"}
