When the new materials arrived, the games were definitely the biggest hit! My students were excited to see something new in our classroom, and they immediately wanted to know when they could start playing. If you know sixth graders, you know how much they love a little friendly competition! It has been so much fun watching their personalities shine as they laugh, challenge each other, and work together during indoor recess and free time.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things about having these games is seeing students interact with classmates they might not normally spend time with. Sometimes the best moments in our classroom happen when students aren't working on an assignment, but are simply talking, laughing, and getting to know one another. These little moments help build the sense of community that makes such a difference throughout our school day.\r\n\r\nThe pencils and dry-erase markers might not seem as exciting as the games, but they have been just as appreciated! Anyone who teaches middle school knows that pencils seem to disappear almost instantly, and markers never last as long as we'd like. Having these supplies available means less time searching for materials and more time focusing on learning. Our magnetic calendar is also helping us keep track of important dates, assignments, and upcoming classroom activities.\r\n\r\nThe Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has been especially helpful as I plan ELA lessons for students with different strengths and learning needs.
