It has made a really fantastic impact on my students. \r\n\r\nRight from the start when my students noticed the boxes behind my desk I could hear the excited whispers. Some students even excitedly asked about the LEGOs too. The LEGOs are being used in many different ways in the classroom and being used by all three grade levels that I teach. \r\n\r\nThe very first way that my students engaged with the LEGOs was with a generic science task focused on the practice of noticing patterns. Each group was given a random selection of LEGO pieces with the task of sorting them into 4 groups. What those 4 groups were exactly was up to the group to determine. They had to assess what types of pieces they had and see what different similarities they could find. Different groups had different approaches, but most groups did end up with their last category being miscellaneous. \r\n\r\nAfter having the experience with using LEGOs in the class, some students wanted to use them to model what we were learning. In the images shared you can see some of the creations that my students came up with to explain the way atoms rearrange themselves during chemical reactions. One student even created a model piston that would be seen in a motor, facilitating a combustion reaction.\r\n\r\nI am excited to see what my students create in the future with this option opened up to them. \r\n\r\nAll of this would not have been possible without your donations. You have all the thanks of my students as well as my own.","fullyFundedDate":1742163037673,"projectUrl":"project/make-learning-feel-like-play-with-lego/9174263/","projectTitle":"Make Learning Feel Like Play With LEGO!","teacherDisplayName":"Mx.
