For many of my students, these books represented the first chapter book they would ever read in their LIFETIME! How incredible is that! \r\n\r\nThey were so excited and proud to apply their phonics skills when reading this book. We started implementing free reading time across the grade level, and kids were thrilled to find a pattern that we have been learning about in a Junie B. Jones or DogMan book. This really helped them to see the actual importance of learning phonics. These books increased their engagement throughout the whole school day and inspired a love of reading amongst my kids.\r\n\r\nI also have many older students borrowing from our lending library every day. The project was funded very quickly, and we received the materials in time to put them into use in an impactful way. It was a breath of fresh air for us as teachers, to have the gift of such a practical resource to help us support our students. While I originally thought these books would be in rotation mostly with our youngest ( Grades kindergarten- Grade 1) students, it was surprising to see how useful they were for our older learners who have struggled the most with learning to read. The stories are not boring, they are not \" babyish\". This is a huge issue I have often encountered when trying to find books for my older students that balance their need for dignity alongside their need to practice reading skills that are grade levels far below their ages. We have found these books appropriate as a resource for special educators, English as a Second Language teachers- and my homeroom teacher colleagues have also requested that we get more of these books to support their regular classroom instruction as well. These are sturdy, well-made, high quality instructional materials that will be in use at my school for a long time. \r\nYour generosity has given my whole teaching team such as lift- we feel like our work is seen and valued. The Little Spot books and plush emotions have been especially helpful in teaching students to identify and name their feelings, making abstract emotions more concrete and easier to understand. The visual and tactile nature of these tools has allowed students, especially those with disabilities or bilingual learners, to connect with their emotions in a way that resonates with them. The calming kits have provided students with accessible ways to de-escalate when they are feeling overwhelmed, giving them the confidence to manage their emotions independently.\r\n\r\nThe coping cards, CBT therapy card game, and meditation cards have helped students build an essential toolkit of coping strategies, which they can use both inside and outside of school. Being able to practice these techniques in a structured and supportive environment has led to noticeable improvements in emotional regulation, focus, and overall well-being. The posters in my office serve as daily visual reinforcements of these lessons, helping students remember and apply the strategies we work on together. Additionally, the executive functioning and sensory tools, like I Spy bingo and Wikki Stix, have been instrumental in helping students with attention and sensory challenges stay engaged and develop self-regulation skills.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students now have the resources they need to build confidence in managing their emotions, which directly impacts their ability to learn and thrive in the classroom. Your support has created a lasting difference in their lives, providing them with the tools to navigate challenges with resilience.
