Before this project, it was always a struggle when not every student had a calculator. Some kids tried to share, others fell behind, and class time was spent just trying to keep everyone on track. Now, every student has what they need to jump right into learning, and it's completely changed the energy in our classroom.\r\n\r\nSince the calculators arrived, lessons have been smoother and more focused. Instead of getting stuck on long division, negative numbers, or anything with a decimal. My students now spend more time thinking about why something works and how to solve problems in new ways. They're collaborating more, checking each other's work, and showing real confidence, especially those who used to shut down when math got tough.\r\n\r\nWe've also seen results! On our first big unit test, the class average was 16% higher than last year's group. Students are developing stronger problem-solving and critical thinking skills because they can now focus on understanding instead of worrying about not having the right tools. Having calculators for everyone has made my classroom a more equal and welcoming place. Even my quieter students are more willing to participate. One student told me, \"I don't get so nervous in math anymore.\" That's exactly why this project mattered so much.\r\n\r\nYour support didn't just provide calculators, it gave my students confidence, access, and opportunity. The calculators will continue to help hundreds of students for years to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in my students and making such a lasting difference!","fullyFundedDate":1754328416301,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-smarter-math-with-simple-tool/9419143/","projectTitle":"Supporting Smarter Math With Simple Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Forester","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4513932"},{"teacherId":8561555,"projectId":9238827,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous contribution, the \"Spring Into Reading\" Read-a-Thon was a tremendous success, and we are excited to share the positive impact your support has had on our middle school students. With your help, we were able to provide students in grades 6-8 with books as rewards for their incredible dedication and hard work in the read-a-thon challenge.\r\n\r\nOver the course of the event, our students collectively read over 85,000 pages, and the competition between grade levels was fierce! The diverse selection of books, ranging from manga to sports biographies and everything in between, ensured that each student had access to something that resonated with their personal interests. These books are not only serving as tangible rewards for their efforts but also sparking a deeper love for reading, encouraging students to continue exploring new genres and ideas long after the read-a-thon ended. We also had a grand prize kindle reward for top readers as well as small prizes such as bookmarks, gift cards and reading swag.\r\n\r\nIn a district where more than half of our students come from low-income households, your donation has helped bridge the gap, providing access to books that many students would not have otherwise had. These books have opened doors to adventure, learning, and imagination, and they are making a lasting impact on our students' literacy skills. As a teacher working with both 9th and 11th grade students, I have seen firsthand how important these sensory tools are, particularly for freshmen navigating the challenges of high school. They provide comfort, foster a sense of community, and create a more inclusive environment for all students, especially those with specialized education plans.\r\n\r\nYour donation will have a lasting impact on my classroom. These resources will help create a safe and supportive space where students can take breaks, manage anxiety, and feel more engaged in their learning.
