I was on an unexpected medical leave last fall and didn't get to fully see the impact of this project until the spring. In a way, though, it has been helpful to have so many months of circulation data showing just how much of a difference multiple copies of popular books can make.\r\n\r\nBefore this project was funded, students would frequently walk into our library asking, \"Is it available yet?\" For several high-demand titles, the answer was often no. Because of your generosity, that answer became yes for many more readers.\r\n\r\nSince April 2025, the duplicate copies you funded have been checked out more than 200 times. Silent Sister circulated 72 times, If He Had Been with Me 75 times, Promise Boys 33 times, and Love & Gelato 32 times. Together, that's 212 checkouts from just four additional copies of books that students were eager to read.\r\n\r\nEach checkout represents a student finding a book at exactly the right moment, sharing it with friends, and returning to the library excited for their next read. Your generosity helped us add the finishing touches on our display spaces that let us lean into Whitman as an older building and the library as a \"vintage bookstore\" type aesthetic.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things about working in a middle school library is watching students choose to spend their free time here. They come in before school, during lunch, and after completing assignments, often lingering to talk about books, browse the shelves, or simply enjoy the space. Your gift helps make those moments even more inviting by creating an environment that is imaginative, comfortable, and inspiring.\r\n\r\nStudent TAs had so much fun initially selecting the wallpapers and then they helped decorate the final display spaces.
