The Color Your World (Skin Tone Crayons), colored pencils, crayons, and paper clay have had an immediate and meaningful impact in our art room. Students have been using these materials across multiple lessons, including explorations of the Elements of Art, landscape collages, and texture rubbings. The variety of skin tone crayons has been especially powerful during figure drawing and self-portrait work, allowing students to represent themselves and others more accurately and confidently. The paper clay has added a hands-on, sensory component to learning, giving students new ways to explore texture, form, and creativity.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was clear. Many immediately commented on the wide range of colors in the skin tone crayons and eagerly compared shades to find ones that matched them best. The paper clay quickly became a favorite, sparking curiosity and thoughtful experimentation as students pressed, rolled, and textured their creations. These materials encouraged students who may be hesitant with drawing to feel successful and engaged, while also pushing confident artists to try new techniques.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building on these experiences by using the materials in a mixed-media landscape project that combines drawing, collage, and textured clay elements. We will also revisit the Elements of Art as students apply line, color, texture, and form in more complex and personal ways. Because of your generosity, students have access to high-quality, inclusive materials that support creativity, self-expression, and joyful learning every day. Thank you for helping make our art room a place where every student feels seen and inspired.","fullyFundedDate":1763589255020,"projectUrl":"project/art-connections/9588946/","projectTitle":"Art Connections","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Vogel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5545503_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533241463110","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jvogel4"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57952","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":347,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":46.7,"schoolId":57952,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Whitesville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Whitesville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/daviess-county-public-school-district/whitesville-elementary-school/57952"}
