We learned that bigger is lower and smaller is higher. We also learned tighter is higher and looser is lower and it all has to do with sound waves. \r\n\r\nWe got to play rulers by strumming them on the side of a table, we got to play our new tongue drums, we explored the xylophones, and I was able to pick up some crystal glasses at the thrift store to top it off. The next day we made our own instruments using rubber bands. We play them with rhythm play-along activities. There are many wonderful videos that have songs and rhythm notation to help us practice rhythms. We also use them to learn forms. The images I uploaded previously were from a dance we did to a march. We marched and played the drum for a section, hid behind the drums for a section, and danced with them as hats for a section. They had a blast.\r\nThe scarves have really given us more ways to express the music. We move musically as we copy the teacher and take turns being the leader. We also musically move freely to music to explore what sounds lead us to feel different ways.\r\nThe triangles and crow sounders have been great too! Our options to play keep getting better thanks to your generous support.
