We play them with rhythm play-along activities. There are many wonderful videos that have songs and rhythm notation to help us practice rhythms. We also use them to learn forms. The images I uploaded previously were from a dance we did to a march. We marched and played the drum for a section, hid behind the drums for a section, and danced with them as hats for a section. They had a blast.\r\nThe scarves have really given us more ways to express the music. We move musically as we copy the teacher and take turns being the leader. We also musically move freely to music to explore what sounds lead us to feel different ways.\r\nThe triangles and crow sounders have been great too! Our options to play keep getting better thanks to your generous support. It was great to be able to let more students play at the same time. In first grade this year, the students all got to take turns keeping the beat on two notes while we sang. The students that were the most steady got to perform for the concert and I because we had more instruments, I was able to let many kids play. Fifth grade had a song that was much more complicated with more than three separate parts being played at the same time. They knew their parts well, but it was going to be challenging with just the five instruments we had. I'm so glad we were able to have the new ones in time. The new organization helps keep materials in order, which is essential for a smooth and productive environment. The shelving is the perfect height to fit under the whiteboard, creating more space and keeping the classroom looking tidy.\r\n\r\nThe students were thrilled when they first saw the new resources. These stress balls have had multiple effects. One, they allow students to feel in control of managing anxiety and sleepiness by making the choice to get a tactile stress object to squeeze and keep their mind focused while doing independent work. Secondly, they have had the added benefit of strengthening their hand muscles which has improved pencil grip and penmanship. Better penmanship has had the secondary effect of less eyestrain and decoding fatigue resulting in a less stressed and very happy teacher! =)\r\n Of all the items, the students say their most favorite are the three sets of Wiggle Wobble chair feet we were able to purchase. Each tool serves a unique purpose, yet together, they foster a more dynamic and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of our students.\r\n\r\nThe document camera has proven to be an invaluable asset for whole-group instruction. By projecting materials in real time, it ensures that all students can clearly see and engage with the content being presented. Whether it's displaying a text during a reading lesson, modeling a math problem, or showcasing student work, the document camera allows for lessons to be more interactive and visually accessible. For example, during a science lesson, we used the document camera to magnify the parts of a flower, making it easier for students to observe details they might have missed otherwise. It has also been beneficial for handwriting practice, where students can see letter formation modeled live, fostering better understanding and skill development. The document camera's versatility makes it an essential tool across all areas of the curriculum, enhancing both the delivery of instruction and the students' ability to actively participate in lessons.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the wobble stools have been a wonderful addition to our small group table, promoting engagement and comfort during collaborative work. These stools allow for gentle movement, which is particularly beneficial for students who may have difficulty sitting still for extended periods. The flexibility they provide helps students maintain focus while giving them the freedom to release energy in a controlled manner. For example, during small-group reading sessions, I've noticed that students seated on wobble stools are more attentive and less likely to become distracted. The stools also encourage proper posture and core strength, which are essential for students who may struggle with sitting upright.\r\n\r\nOverall, the combination of these tools has had a profound impact on our classroom dynamics. The document camera has elevated whole-group instruction by making lessons more interactive, engaging, and accessible to all learners. At the same time, the wobble stools have transformed small-group work by improving focus, comfort, and inclusivity. Together, they create a learning environment that prioritizes both academic success and student well-being.\r\n\r\nAs educators, we constantly seek ways to enhance instruction and meet the diverse needs of our students. Tools like the document camera and wobble stools play a significant role in achieving these goals. I am grateful for the opportunity to use them in our classroom and look forward to discovering even more ways they can support our students' growth and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1726975237034,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-engagement-document-cameras/8802526/","projectTitle":"\"Enhancing Engagement: Document Cameras and Wobble Stools for Dynamic Learning\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schilling","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9763961_orig.jpg?crop=172,172,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726711437992","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9763961"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45387","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":201,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":62,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":73.8,"schoolId":45387,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Whitehall Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Whitehall Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/whitehall-school-district-4-47-2/whitehall-middle-school/45387"}
