It is important to create a classroom where students feel physically and emotionally safe, where they can take risks without fear of judgment and where they feel a sense of belonging. \r\n\r\nA part of fostering academic success is to maintain a clean, germ-free learning environment. This is difficult with 3-5 year old students. We use a lot of disinfecting wipes, baby wipes, and Kleenex. That is why my class was ecstatic to see the donated items. \r\n\r\nLastly, writing is a necessary part of our curriculum. We write throughout the day. The students love to show what they have learned in their journals, stations, and/or response cards. We use a lot of crayons to bring our drawings to life. \r\n\r\nI will share some photos of our classroom and our daily routine of sanitizing and some of their great writings.","fullyFundedDate":1734895206206,"projectUrl":"project/wipe-and-write/8971073/","projectTitle":"Wipe and Write","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robyn McAdams-Ford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1017593_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1613620630421","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1017593"},{"teacherId":9702103,"projectId":8754244,"letterContent":"Thanks for sponsoring my class with a OKIOCAM and other resources. Most of students reside in low income households. I have used the Goldfish and the Welch fruit snacks to provide those students with snacks during snack time. I was able to use the Laminating sheets to make student resources durable. I have also been able to laminate their name tags, engagement icons, and small group/centers resources. The Lakeshore Regular At-Your-Seat Storage Sacks has been great with helping keeping my scholars organized. Not only has it been great with keeping my scholars organized, but it has helped foster and teach them independence. \r\n\r\nThe OKIOCAM document camera has been a game changer for instruction. It has been easier to model for pre-k students. I am able to use the document camera for math, social studies, science, writing, phonics and language arts. I have seen a huge improvement in their writing due to my scholars being able to visualize my expectations.","fullyFundedDate":1729629291729,"projectUrl":"project/fantastic-fish-a-journey-from-fourth-g/8754244/","projectTitle":"Fantastic Fish!: A Journey From Fourth Grade to Pre-K","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Forte","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9702103_orig.jpg?crop=2842,2842,x181,y171&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737501038141","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9702103"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16664","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":368,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":73,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.6,"schoolId":16664,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Whidby Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Whidby Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/houston-independent-school-district/whidby-elementary-school/16664"}
