Students were smiling, cheering, and eager to explore everything that had been provided. The fidgets, LED lights, games, slime, LEGOs, and markers instantly created a more welcoming and engaging classroom environment. Many of my students thrive when they have access to hands-on and calming resources, so seeing materials that were specifically chosen to support their needs made them feel valued and cared for.\r\nWe have already begun using the materials in several meaningful ways. One of our favorite activities was a collaborative STEM challenge where students worked in groups to design and build structures using the LEGOs while using the markers to sketch and label their plans beforehand. The LED lights were incorporated into our classroom reward and calming space, helping create a positive atmosphere for students who need sensory breaks or support with self-regulation. The fidgets and slime have also been incredibly helpful during independent work time, allowing students to stay focused and engaged while managing their energy appropriately. The games have encouraged teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fun and interactive way.\r\nMoving forward, we plan to continue incorporating these resources into both academic lessons and social-emotional learning activities. Students are especially excited to use the materials during future STEM projects, classroom incentive days, and collaborative learning stations. These donations are helping create a classroom where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to learn each day. The students love the meditation session at the start of the class. They are so excited to use the Tibetan singing bowl at the end of the meditation to get us ready for the lesson. The actual meditation cards that we are able to use to guide the students' imaginations have helped multiple staff members start this process in their rooms too. My classroom is now filled with noise and movement, but the amazing part is that students are actively part of their own learning and understanding. It has brought energy back into my classroom, and I am able to see students having lightbulb moments where they make math connections through exploration activities and whiteboard work. I get to watch students figure out connections which helps their understanding tremendously, and I get to be more of a facilitator. \r\n\r\nI have seen so much growth and an increased math understanding with my students since this training. But it is because of donors like you that I am able to run my classroom this way. The generosity of donating whiteboards, whiteboard markers, and erasers allows me to actively use these materials. I have students walking into my classroom every day asking, \"do we get to work at whiteboards today\". This shows how much they enjoy this learning experience and thanks to your donation, this is something students get to do multiple days every week. \r\n\r\nI appreciate your donation more than you know, and thank you so much for helping my classroom to provide students with active learning opportunities every day.","fullyFundedDate":1754698979283,"projectUrl":"project/whiteboard-work/9529838/","projectTitle":"Whiteboard Work!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Butz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1848822_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691144557017","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sbutz"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90079","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":453,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.1,"schoolId":90079,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wheatland Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wheatland Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/school-district-of-lancaster/wheatland-middle-school/90079"}
