Our classroom has been enjoying the games almost every day. It has been neat to see them learn new games, considering they were so used to the few we had it was a challenge for them to want to branch out at first. Now they are excited to choose between so many new options. \r\n\r\n\tSome of the skills they are getting better at include turn taking, communication during the game, and learning how to be kind winners and how to accept losing with more grace. Holding cards in their hands is challenging for some, and they are getting better while playing Go Fish and Uno. Some students have shown great responsibility when it is time to clean up the game. Considering our other boxes were taped back together and some falling apart, they have shown care with the new ones. \r\n\r\n\tHaving this great selection of games means we have been inviting students from other classes to join us. Our class is a life skills class, so our students have abilities that are more challenging such as nonverbal students who use communication devices, low academic skills, and behaviors that mean our students to not leave our classroom often. Having such great games to invite others in has been wonderful.\r\n\r\nThank you so much again, and I hope you have a wonderful upcoming summer season!","fullyFundedDate":1766966204214,"projectUrl":"project/fantastic-fun-for-everyone/9951060/","projectTitle":"Fantastic Fun for Everyone!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hager","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10378885"},{"teacherId":10284847,"projectId":9762632,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for purchasing our new Chemistry for Curious Kids books — they replaced textbooks that were over 20 years old and contained inaccurate information about the periodic table. Students now have access to current information, including recently discovered elements and updated facts about their uses and properties. The colorful, user‑friendly pages have hooked learners at every reading level and made complex concepts accessible. As they read, students practiced important nonfiction strategies — identifying headings, interpreting captions, and using images and diagrams to determine what each section was teaching — which strengthened both their content knowledge and their ability to read science texts independently.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become more interactive and inquiry‑driven, as groups consult the \"purple book\" during labs, cite its diagrams when explaining observations, and use its clear summaries to plan research for their culminating projects. Several students who previously struggled with dense, textbook language now grab the new books first; multilingual learners and students with diverse reading needs particularly appreciate the accessible layout and visual supports. The books have quickly become beloved classroom tools, and their use has measurably raised engagement, confidence, and the quality of student explanations in both writing and discussion.","fullyFundedDate":1760866920817,"projectUrl":"project/books-chemistry-for-curious-kids/9762632/","projectTitle":"Books: Chemistry for Curious Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Blazek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10284847"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_65318","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":711,"numTeachers":60,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":69.7,"schoolId":65318,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Westbrook Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Westbrook Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maine/westbrook-school-district/westbrook-middle-school/65318"}
