With titles like Dark State, American Assassin, The Whistler, The River, Project Hail Mary, Trust, and Remarkably Bright Creatures, along with sports stories, suspense series, and compelling nonfiction, our classroom library is becoming a place where every student can find a story that truly grabs their attention. These are the kinds of books that compete with screens and keep students turning pages long after the bell rings, and your support makes that possible.\r\nBecause of you, students will be able to choose books that genuinely interest them during independent reading, literature circles, and student-led discussions. When students see books that reflect their interests—whether that's action, survival, science fiction, sports, or powerful true stories—they read longer, think deeper, and start recommending books to each other. Your donation is helping create a classroom culture where reading isn't just assigned, but anticipated. Instead of staring at a blank page, students are brainstorming on cards, organizing their thoughts visually, and revising with purpose. The room has been full of movement, discussion, and excitement as students collaborate and build their ideas step by step.\r\nYour support has helped transform writing from something many students once found stressful into a process they can see, touch, and truly engage with. The simple act of laying out ideas, rearranging them, and marking revisions with colorful tools has made the writing process feel achievable. Students are taking more risks, experimenting with their ideas, and feeling proud of the progress they make from first draft to final piece.\r\nMost importantly, these materials are helping students begin to see themselves as real writers. Your donation has left a huge impact not only on my life but also on my students. I have the awesome privilege of being the In-House Suspension Monitor for West Harrison High School. My classroom is designed for students that have committed non-violent infractions to stay in school and be disciplined. Many times, those students walk around with a scarlet letter on their chest, because they are considered bad. In all actuality they aren't bad, they just have made some bad choices. I take pride knowing that when students leave my classroom, they have learned the importance of choices, consequences and accountability. My project was designed in a way that offers them a little happiness after they have completed their time. Snacks are a great tool in letting them know that happiness can be found in the smallest of ways. \r\n\tThe first student in this project is a young man that has a rough home life. This student sat in my class, and we had a small conversation about his home life. He told me that they never get anything special. He said he often felt alone and as if no one cared for him. This student stopped by many times and got some pretzels. The smile on his face filled my heart with warmness. You never know who you can touch and reach with a simple gesture. This project through your generosity has exemplified the compassion and love still available for those that want it.","fullyFundedDate":1766816412545,"projectUrl":"project/a-little-snack-a-big-difference/9953941/","projectTitle":"A Little Snack, A Big Difference","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Emecheta","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9617723_orig.jpg?crop=168,168,x0,y6&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727369220119","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9617723"},{"teacherId":5562052,"projectId":10075449,"letterContent":"Teaching a state-tested class can be really challenging sometimes because of the pressure that students and I are under--they have to pass the state test, and the class, in order to graduate, and I have to make sure they have the knowledge and skills to make that happen.\r\n\r\nBecause so much of our class can be so heavy, I try to alleviate some of that with games, competitions, and rewards for effort and for winning.
