Their eyes lit up seeing the professional kits, and they dove in immediately. Olen, an aspiring taxidermist, is already incorporating tooling into his skull mounts. He has gained so much confidence that he sold his first leather bracelet and is now perfecting a custom phone case. It is amazing to see such focus.\r\n\r\nNext, we are launching a class business. Students are tooling \"W\" keyrings for the Wells Leopards to sell in our school colors. One student even designed a beautiful cactus keyring! These tools are teaching them both artistic craft and entrepreneurship. Our students were able to install the amplifier and power conditioner themselves as part of our ongoing sound system upgrade. This gave them a real-world learning experience where they could see how audio equipment works from start to finish, including how a signal moves from the input, through the mixer, into the amplifier, and out to the speakers. They are also beginning to explore more advanced concepts like DSP and how modern amplifiers can be adjusted and optimized for different performance needs.\r\n\r\nFor many of our donors, this type of technology might look similar to what you would see in a home setup, but in a school theater it becomes a hands-on training tool. Instead of just learning about sound in theory, students are actively building and configuring a working system that will be used for real performances. This kind of experience is critical for students interested in technical careers because it mirrors what they would encounter in the field.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for students is knowing that this equipment will directly impact live productions. Once the system is fully completed, this amplifier will power our subwoofer, allowing students to create deep bass effects like thunder and other impactful sound moments during performances. That connection between what they install and what an audience experiences makes the work feel meaningful and real.\r\n\r\nSince receiving this equipment, I have seen a noticeable shift in student mindset. There is a stronger sense of pride in the program and more excitement about what they are learning. Instead of working with outdated equipment, students now feel like they are gaining experience with modern technology that actually prepares them for real-world opportunities.","fullyFundedDate":1768068535666,"projectUrl":"project/technical-theater-sound-system-upgrade/9987347/","projectTitle":"Technical Theater Sound System Upgrade","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. B","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9363297_orig.jpg?crop=507,507,x482,y244&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699742026836","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9363297"},{"teacherId":9577012,"projectId":9987430,"letterContent":"My students are enjoying the new bean bag chairs, seat cushions, and new books. An additional bonus was the LED light in the sun that they can turn on and off. \r\nOne of our required literature books is \"Kitten's First Full Moon\". It was great to teach this book using the planetarium, allowing students to see how the moon rotates and observe its various phases based on the sun's location. The planetarium you provided was a perfect tool for this activity. This semester in science, we will be delving deeper into the phases of the moon, and the supplies you donated will be so helpful.\r\nFirst graders learn best with hands-on experiences, and it's wonderful to have a globe that they can touch and spin. Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been equipped with state-of-the-art resources and supplies that have opened up new worlds of hands-on, experiential learning. The hydroponics system you funded, for instance, has allowed students to witness firsthand the miracle of plant growth and development. Through maintaining this innovative setup and charting the progress of the plants, students have gained a deeper understanding of crucial biological and ecological concepts. Seeing their seedlings sprout and flourish through the application of scientific principles has sparked immense curiosity and enthusiasm. Beyond the academic insights, this project has also instilled in students a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and appreciation for the natural world.
