Your donations have provided my students with new classroom supplies and a board that has quickly become one of their favorite resources.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the new materials. The board has become a regular part of our classroom routines. We use it for our daily \"Do Nows,\" math discussions, and opportunities for students to come up to the board and share their answers and thinking. My students love being able to participate in front of their classmates, and it has helped make our lessons more interactive and engaging.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments is seeing a student who may normally be hesitant to participate become excited to come to the board and explain how they solved a problem. These opportunities help my students build not only their academic skills, but also their confidence and communication skills.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, I plan to give my students even more opportunities to use these resources independently. I would like to have students take on the role of a \"lead student,\" where they will work on a task, come to the board, and teach or explain their thinking to the class. This will encourage my students to become more independent learners and develop leadership skills while supporting their classmates.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a classroom where my students can participate, collaborate, and feel proud of what they are learning. By reading the sight word books, students learned the basic words that show up in a reading primary text. Students also improved in their writing skills. Reading levels has increase by two levels over the school year. \r\n\r\nStudents read through out the classroom in the library , at their desks or on the carpet and students read any word that is on walls. The students who needed a little more support really enjoyed the books because their confidence grew and their reading level increase when the student read fluently.\r\n\r\nMy students not only increased in their levels they also improved in their writing and math skills. Because students increased in their reading levels, I was able to complete more units of study in reading and writing. Share a specific classroom project or moment.\r\nWe use the new resources daily during our small group station rotation to build foundational skills and bridge the learning gap for students working below grade level. In groups of two to three, students get target practice on essential skills so they can successfully access grade-level content. During a recent small group reading intervention, students were using the new materials while comfortably settled in the flexible seating chairs. The comfortable setup completely transformed their focus—students who usually get restless stayed fully engaged through the entire 20-minute skill-building exercise, actively asking questions and collaborating with their peers.\r\n2. How did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nThe excitement in the room was instant, but the absolute favorite addition was definitely the new chairs! My 5th and 6th grade diverse learners were thrilled to have special seating, and many of them immediately asked if they could sit in them for the entire class period. Having brand-new, dedicated resources made them feel valued and turned our small group work area into a space they genuinely look forward to visiting every day.\r\n3. What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nMoving forward, we are continuing to build on the incredible momentum and growth my students have shown this year. Several of my 5th and 6th graders who started three grade levels behind have already closed the gap and are now working just one grade level below. To enhance the learning and hygienic experience in my class, my students had the choice to use their personal headphones on an as needed basis, whole group and during small groups. Students didn't have to fear the spread of germs.\r\n\r\nIn order to get the most of of learning from videos, students would grab their individual headphones. Students were able to listen to videos at their own pace. My Hispanic students were able to listen to video in Spanish if needed. At times, some students would listen to music as they work. \r\n\r\nMy class contained students at different learning styles, abilities, and English as a second language. My goal is to ensure inclusion of all students and to meet their academic needs. The headphones provided security and independence while working in my class. The students were apprehensive in the beginning about writing an original story. We took our time to first develop the characters, setting, and plot. Once this was done, they began creating some of the most amazing narratives. Everyone was able to produce something related to the conflict-resolution theme. They were amazed themselves at their own writing development. I have a few high-flyers that finished early and were able to do some peer coaching. Writing narratives was a struggle at the beginning of the year, but completing this project allowed my students to find the writer within. This is a noteworthy accomplishment, which can be attributed to great instruction and exposure to advanced-level literature and texts like Charlotte's Web.
