They even took time during their weekend and watched the recommended videos on dissection so they could be prepared for the lab. \r\n\r\nThey got to experience for their first time the ability to use a scalpel, forceps and many of the other dissecting tools. They worked together in teams and practice communication and cooperate work. They were able for the 1st time see and compare the similarities and difference in each organisms anatomy. Because of your kindness, our students now have access to brand-new volleyball equipment, something that many of them never imagined possible. Your contribution has not only provided tangible resources but also ignited a sense of excitement, pride, and motivation in our young athletes. Many of our athletes were eager to learn and improve but were hindered by the limitations of what we had available. Thanks to you, that is no longer the case.\r\n\r\nSeeing Their Faces Light Up\r\n\r\nThe moment our students first saw the new equipment was truly unforgettable. As we unpacked the brand-new volleyballs, nets, knee pads, and training tools, their faces lit up with joy and disbelief. Some of them ran their hands over the smooth, new volleyballs, marveling at how they felt compared to the ones they had been using for years. Others couldn't contain their excitement and immediately asked if they could start practicing. The energy in the gym that day was electric—full of cheers, smiles, and eager anticipation.\r\n\r\nOne student, who had been hesitant to join the team due to a lack of confidence, said, \"I feel like a real athlete now. This makes me want to work even harder.\" These words alone sum up the true impact of your generosity—not only have you provided equipment, but you have also instilled a renewed sense of self-belief and ambition in our students.\r\n\r\nHow We're Using the New Resources\r\n\r\nSince receiving the equipment, our practices have completely transformed. With high-quality volleyballs, our students can now practice more precise passing, setting, and serving. The new net allows us to run full-length drills, helping our players improve their game strategy and teamwork. Knee pads and other protective gear ensure that our students can play safely and with confidence, knowing they are protected from injury.\r\n\r\nOne particularly special moment came when we were finally able to run a full scrimmage using all the new equipment. The students played with a level of enthusiasm and determination that we had never seen before. They communicated more, encouraged each other, and pushed themselves to perform their best. The difference was clear—having the right equipment gave them a sense of legitimacy and pride in their team.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next for Our Students?\r\n\r\nNow that our volleyball program has the necessary tools, we are setting our sights on developing our skills further. Our students are working on mastering fundamental techniques, increasing their endurance, and building strong teamwork.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, our school is planning to introduce a mentorship program where more experienced players can help newer students develop their skills and confidence. This initiative will foster leadership qualities in our older students while ensuring that younger athletes receive the guidance they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nBeyond the volleyball court, the impact of this project extends into our students' personal lives. Many of our players have developed a stronger sense of discipline, responsibility, and teamwork, lessons that they will carry beyond their time in school. This experience has shown them that there are people—like you—who believe in their potential and want to see them succeed.\r\n\r\nA Heartfelt Thank You\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our entire school community, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and belief in our students. Your donation has made an incredible difference, not just in terms of providing equipment but in building confidence, fostering teamwork, and inspiring young athletes to chase their dreams.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our students now have a program they can be truly proud of, and we are excited for all the opportunities ahead. We will carry your generosity with us in every practice, every game, and every lesson learned through this sport.","fullyFundedDate":1735330276865,"projectUrl":"project/the-knights-need-volleyball-equipment/9012731/","projectTitle":"The Knights Need Volleyball Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Castaneda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9878560_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735320599517","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9878560"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54838","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":691,"numTeachers":59,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":31,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":50,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":54838,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Walter C Young Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Walter C Young Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/broward-county-public-schools/walter-c-young-resource-center/54838"}
