When I decided to join Donors Choose and submit this request, I did it without any expectations. I wanted to be proactive about obtaining materials for the next assignment I was going to embark upon. However, I did not know that people near and far would have poured into my mission and project to fund my new classroom. Serving students in a district and a borough that is underserved and underfunded is very difficult. As a parent myself my financial ability to pour into my own classroom is becoming rocky. Yet, there are still people willing to help and give to these little ones. My AS babies have been blessed. Each day they enter their classroom; they have items which donors were great enough to ensure they could use. They look forward to choice time and using the materials we obtained. Without this donation we would not have had much to start with. We have a beautiful carpet as a decor in the calming/library area. There are items such as magnetic tiles that capture their creativity to build. I have a vacuum to clean up messes at the end of the day and at the start of the day. All these items in which we received play such a vital role in their overall needs. Once again, thank you so much and I wish many blessings upon each and every donor.","fullyFundedDate":1750256243710,"projectUrl":"project/support-our-as-babies/9134662/","projectTitle":"Support Our AS babies!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stewart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9932789_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743370246676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9932789"},{"teacherId":1851593,"projectId":9088727,"letterContent":"My grade partner and I will start to incorporate the UFLI program into our daily reading block next year. My 4th graders were absolutely thrilled when they first saw the colorful math games, hands-on manipulatives, and engaging center activities—we had a few happy dances and lots of curious questions! We've been using the new resources in small group rotations to reinforce skills like fractions and multi-digit multiplication, and one memorable moment was watching a group excitedly solve a fraction puzzle together, cheering each other on. Right now, we're diving into geometry, using shape tiles and task cards to explore angles and symmetry. These materials have truly brought math to life, and we're so grateful to continue building confidence and joy in learning, thanks to you!","fullyFundedDate":1738609701969,"projectUrl":"project/building-stronger-math-minds-engaging-c/9091056/","projectTitle":"Building Stronger Math Minds: Engaging Centers for 4th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kornafel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9702600_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724444161857","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9702600"},{"teacherId":8699403,"projectId":8987523,"letterContent":"With heartfelt gratitude, we want to express our deep appreciation for your generosity. When our students unboxed the materials—including new notebooks and writing supplies—they were overwhelmed with the kindness of strangers who believe in their potential. These resources have sparked excitement and motivation in our classroom, reinforcing the idea that their voices and stories matter. Your support has not only provided essential tools but has also instilled a sense of encouragement that will carry them forward in their literacy journey.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are actively engaging with literature in meaningful ways. They are learning to respond to texts thoughtfully, express their ideas through writing, and build their literacy skills with each book they explore. Book talks have become a favorite activity, with students enthusiastically sharing their thoughts and recommendations. These discussions are not only improving their comprehension but also fostering a love of reading that extends beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our reading and writing activities during SSR, we are thrilled to introduce vlogging as a new way for students to share their book selections on social media and morning announcements. This initiative will empower them to articulate their ideas with confidence while embracing technology as a tool for literacy. Looking ahead, the excitement will continue into summer, where our diverse reading list will encourage students to explore various genres and maintain their love of books. Your kindness has created lasting opportunities for our students, and we are profoundly grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1739415528893,"projectUrl":"project/pages-of-possibility-exploring-creative/8987523/","projectTitle":"Pages of Possibility: Exploring Creative Writing and Reading Reflections","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Slaughter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8699403_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1676059047009","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8699403"},{"teacherId":3764059,"projectId":9018446,"letterContent":"Our most recent DonorsChoose project has given my students the opportunity to use their imaginations more and to become more creative with their writing. They develop sharper writing skills and get better with perfecting their writing styles.\r\n\r\nAlthough most of the students were excited to receive the materials for our reading /writing activities, it took a while for the students to become really comfortable with sharing their finished stories and illustrations with their classmates.
