Since the boxes arrived we have put most of them to use already. The magnetic clips were immediately used to decorate my classroom, allow students to hang flyers supporting their extracurricular activities, and to hang our classroom bathroom passes by the door. All of my students have used the dry erase markers and pockets to draw diagrams such as biographical cycles and atomic drawings. They've helped all my classes!\r\n\r\nMy students' favorite supplies donated were the lab equipment! So far we have used the pebble ice maker to make ice baths for our experiments. The first one we did was to measure the effects of temperature on enzyme activity. The students had so much fun! We also used the dissolved oxygen meter to determine the rate of primary productivity in aquatic ecosystems. The students learned how to calibrate them too! My students are anxiously awaiting using the platform scale for when we do our pig dissections later in the school year. They can't wait to use it!\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students more than just lab and classroom supplies—you've given them opportunities to learn, collaborate, investigate, and thrive. Students have asked to help work on the puzzle at least a few times a week after they have completed their work. The puzzles create a balance that allows students to work with more focus and longevity, truly building up lifelong learners.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they wondered why someone would offer to support their social emotional health. Most of those in my classroom face enormous pressure to do well and spend every waking moment studying or improving themselves through traditional methods of classes and lectures. Although students were weary at first, they could not help but fall for the beauty of working together on puzzles or playing strategy games to help improve their moods and overall perspective on life. A few students have come up and told me that they see the correlation between the puzzles and their reading in class. I love it when I can see learning moments turning into core memories that will continually ignite their passion for growth and improvement.\r\n\r\nSince so much material was provided, I believe that we will stay the course and continue to use the puzzles for deepening comprehension and the games to encourage a love of learning and collaboration.
