Thanks to your support, our classroom received new materials that have brought hands-on creativity, responsibility, and excitement to our agriculture program.\r\n\r\nOne of our first projects using the new resources was our Wooden Sign & String Art Project. Students designed and created personalized wooden signs, learning how to sand, stain, measure, and safely use tools. The pride on their faces when they held up their finished signs was unforgettable, many even asked to take theirs home immediately to hang on their bedroom walls or gift to a family member.\r\nIn addition to our shop project, we were also able to hatch and raise baby chicks, giving students the opportunity to learn about animal care, life cycles, and agriculture in a meaningful, real-life way. Students took turns candling eggs, monitoring temperatures, cleaning brooders, and tracking growth. For several students, it was the first time they had ever held a newly hatched chick, and their reactions were priceless.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students could hardly believe the supplies were for them. I heard comments like, \"Wait! WE get to use these?\" and \"This is so cool, I've never done anything like this before!\" The string art especially surprised them, many didn't think they could create something \"Pinterest-worthy\" until they saw their final product. Watching their confidence grow through each step of the process was the best part.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be using the tools and remaining supplies to explore additional shop projects, including small woodworking gifts and agricultural-themed creations. With our growing flock of students excited about animal science, we'll also be expanding our chick-raising experience into a unit focused on chicken breeds, nutrition, and housing design. Students will apply what they've learned by designing a model coop and presenting their care plans.\r\nYour support did so much more than provide materials, you gave my students the chance to create, care, and discover new interests and talents.
