The aprons help protect their clothes during experiments, especially when working with liquids, soil samples, or materials that can stain. Safety glasses have become an essential part of every lab activity, giving students hands-on experience with proper lab safety procedures while keeping their eyes protected. Having these items available allows students to fully participate in experiments without worrying about spills or accidents, creating a more confident and engaged learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe addition of storage bags for supplies has also made a big difference in organization and preparedness. Each student can keep their materials—such as goggles, measuring tools, and lab notes—neatly stored and ready for use. This reduces time spent passing out or searching for equipment and increases the time available for actual scientific investigation. Overall, these tools have helped build responsibility and professionalism among students while improving safety and efficiency in the classroom. Science has become more interactive, structured, and fun, allowing students to focus on curiosity and discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1753285024905,"projectUrl":"project/safety-first-empowering-young-scientist/9473993/","projectTitle":"Safety First: Empowering Young Scientists","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Palmer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2358624_orig.jpg?crop=1759,1759,x0,y93&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752765359000","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2358624"},{"teacherId":2358624,"projectId":9201939,"letterContent":"Having Scholastic Science World magazines in the classroom has had a positive impact on student engagement and curiosity. The first edition immediately caught students' attention because it included an article about pimple patches—a topic highly relevant to middle schoolers. My 7th and 8th graders enjoy reading current science that connects directly to their lives, and this has sparked authentic discussions, thoughtful questions, and a stronger interest in how science relates to the real world. By providing up-to-date, student-friendly articles, the magazines not only build literacy and comprehension skills but also help students see science as meaningful, timely, and applicable beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nA special thank you goes out to the donors who generously provided the funding for us to receive these magazines. Your support has given students access to high-quality, relevant science resources that inspire curiosity and deepen their learning every day.","fullyFundedDate":1746803809975,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-real-world-science-to-life-with/9201939/","projectTitle":"Bringing Real-World Science to Life with Science World!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Palmer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2358624_orig.jpg?crop=1759,1759,x0,y93&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752765359000","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2358624"},{"teacherId":2358624,"projectId":8713443,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity and for bringing hands-on science to life in our classroom! Your support made it possible for my students to engage in exciting STEM activities that deepen their understanding of scientific concepts in a fun and interactive way.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement. During our Examining Fossils activity, they became young paleontologists, carefully analyzing fossil evidence to piece together Earth's history. It was incredible to see their curiosity grow as they made connections between fossilized remains and ancient environments. One student exclaimed, \"I feel like a real scientist!\"—a moment that truly highlighted the impact of your contribution.\r\n\r\nThe Drinking Birds activity was another crowd favorite! Watching the classic heat-powered toy in action helped my students grasp key concepts about thermal energy and equilibrium. Their reactions ranged from amazement to eager questioning, leading to deeper discussions about how energy transfers in the real world.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be building on these activities by exploring real-world applications of fossil evidence and energy transfer. My students will conduct experiments and create models to further investigate these concepts. Thanks to you, they are not just learning science—they are experiencing it!\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a lasting impact, and we truly appreciate your support in fostering a love for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1733935532598,"projectUrl":"project/sparking-discovery-in-science/8713443/","projectTitle":"Sparking Discovery in Science","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Palmer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2358624_orig.jpg?crop=1759,1759,x0,y93&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752765359000","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2358624"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66970","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":876,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":47,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"27.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.0,"schoolId":66970,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Vista Del Sur Accelerated Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Vista Del Sur Accelerated Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/laveen-elementary-school-district-59/vista-del-sur-middle-school/66970"}
