We are already using the new conference table for student check-ins, small group collaboration, and family meetings. One especially meaningful moment was hosting an IEP meeting where we sat at the table with family and staff, proudly sharing their goals in a calm, respectful setting, it felt collaborative in the best possible way.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the space, their reactions said it all. They noticed the warmth right away—the books and games, the motivational signs, and the organized shelves. Several students asked if this could be their \"calm place,\" and others immediately gravitated toward the games to talk through feelings with a trusted adult. The space instantly felt different: peaceful, purposeful, and inviting.\r\n\r\nNext, we are using this environment to support ongoing SEL lessons focused on identifying emotions, self-regulation, and communication. Students will continue practicing these skills during small groups and one-on-one moments, while families and staff will use the space to strengthen partnerships during IEP meetings.
