These have been such a fun and simple way to add intention and learning potential to our classroom environment. The lead rope has made a smaller impact, but we're slowly beginning to make it work. Thank you so much for funding this amazing literacy project for my students and each of their communities! This was such a fun and collaborative project. It involved students, families, and their neighborhood. We're taught to bridge the gap between school and home. This project took it a step further and bridged the gap between school - home - community. Truly amazing! I heard nothing but positive praise from my families as their kids shared one of their favorite books with a child in their neighborhood. I made simple direction flyers to go along with the books to ensure parents and students understood the task. The timing of this project was impeccable with the holidays around the corner. We were able to introduce our new toys, puzzles, and manipulatives in the classroom and send home identical items during Christmas break to ensure no gap in learning. The families were truly appreciative of this blessing. \r\n\r\nThe farmhouse, puzzles, and trains came at the most perfect time. They matched our theme and made a huge impact on our classroom curriculum. It's amazing how much student interest grows when you introduce new materials. We intentionally brought out each item during group circle time for one week and then gave them each a place within our play area. Within a few days, our kiddos were requesting them and playing with the materials appropriately. \r\n\r\nIt's been two months and their interest has not faded. We've seen an increase in social-emotional learning, joint attention, turn-taking, and joy. Thank you so much for helping ensure joy remains within our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1733270563852,"projectUrl":"project/more-kids-means-more-toys/8902302/","projectTitle":"More Kids Means More Toys","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Joseph","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7994728_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x338,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629255470412","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/misterjoseph"},{"teacherId":9748692,"projectId":8952414,"letterContent":"Interactive learning tools like sound and textured books, hand puppets, and custom-designed lessons play a pivotal role in the education and development of students with hearing loss and cognitive disabilities. These resources allow students to engage their senses, making learning both accessible and enjoyable. For many of my students, traditional teaching methods are not enough to bridge the gaps in their language acquisition and comprehension. By incorporating tactile, auditory, and visual elements into their lessons, we can create multisensory experiences that make abstract concepts tangible and foster deeper understanding.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these tools goes beyond academic success—they help students build confidence, develop communication skills, and connect with the world around them. Custom materials created with color ink, laminating pouches, and Velcro allow for personalized, durable resources that can be tailored to each child's needs and reused over time. With these tools, students can engage in activities that spark curiosity, encourage collaboration, and provide the consistency they need to thrive. Your support in acquiring these items helps empower students to overcome challenges and unlock their full potential, setting them up for lifelong success.","fullyFundedDate":1733229219333,"projectUrl":"project/hear-learn-and-grow-building-language/8952414/","projectTitle":"Hear, Learn, and Grow: Building Language Through Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Crumrine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9748692"},{"teacherId":7994728,"projectId":8786505,"letterContent":"Hi DG Verdugo City & Charles Schwab Foundation! This Pete The Cat project has been a daily success! Once everything arrived, we went full Pete theme for about 2 weeks and the kiddos absolutely loved it. So much so that we themed our door after the Halloween Pete. Nothing beats the classics though, Pete the Cat White Shoes has been an almost daily read. One of the books is seriously being held together by an entire roll of tape. Some of our kiddos still like to join Pete while he steps in the strawberries, blueberries, and the puddle of water haha. \r\n\r\nCan't thank you both enough!
