When I told them it was a donation from some very generous helpers who wanted our class to be successful, they begged me to put it out so they could start using it. The look on their faces was priceless the next morning when they finally got to use our new area rug for our meetings throughout the day. They were so excited to each have a spot on the rug that was just for them. We use this multiple times a day and it is the center of where we learn. As new items started to arrive, the students have blossomed with creativity.\r\n\r\nOur magnetile shape set has been quite a hit and the students have gotten very creative with using them to build structures and reinforcing shape knowledge with flat and 3D shapes that they can make. In addition to this hands-on activity to support math learning, we have also been using our new playdough to support other math skills along the way like measuring using a balance scale. After the holidays we will begin learning about number bonds and will be using our new ten frames set to support learning in that area as well. One of their favorite materials we received was our new book called A Little Spot of Feelings which also came with eight plush emotion creatures to help students learn about emotions and to help them learn to self-regulate them when necessary, which is such a crucial skill for kindergarten students to master to be successful in their educational journey. We cannot wait to continue using everything we have received.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful at Veterans Elementary School here in Central Falls for your help. Your generosity has helped me to create a learning community in my classroom by helping me obtain the materials that I felt would help my students become strong learners, and you have also helped my students to have the tools needed to be successful.
