Our students have been eagerly exploring a plethora of new sounds, learning proper instrumental technique, and developing their teamwork skills as they play these new instruments together. Students learned about the cultures related to each instrument and have developed insights into global musicality and the importance of how music is a universal language. They worked together to create complimentary ostinato layers, creating accompaniments to play alongside melodies. It was so fun to watch them encourage each other with unique ideas and suggestions as they experimented with the different sounds and created their own individual patterns.\r\n\r\nThe reaction of the students when they first saw the numerous new instruments was sheer joy and amazement. They all favored the atomatone, and you will notice that in their thank you letters! This electronic instrument from Japan has now inspired many creative melodies and will do so for thousands of students over the years to come.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue playing on these instruments in creative ways as the students can use new patterns, new genres, and new arrangements to keep advancing their musical skills.
