Having a printed book allowed students to remain more engaged throughout the reading process. Rather than depending solely on a dictionary, students relied on context clues to determine the meanings of unfamiliar words, which strengthened their comprehension. Overall, students demonstrated improved focus and experienced fewer distractions during reading time.\r\n\r\nUsing physical books also reduced eye strain and offered a valuable screen-free learning experience. Many students appreciated the sensory aspects of the book, such as its feel and smell, which helped them form a stronger connection to the text. Students were more inclined to preview chapters or reread important sections before partner reading activities. In addition, absent students could take the book home, enabling families to play a more active role in supporting their learning.\r\n\r\nAs a result, end-of-chapter test scores improved compared to the previous year, when students had access only to digital copies. Students showed deeper understanding, increased confidence, and greater enthusiasm for reading. With our new clear backpack policy, it was so important to them to be able to secure their items in a safe, clean place. The girls also save time by not having to run down to the nurse when they need extra supplies, since we stocked our homerooms upstairs. \r\nBoth boys and girls were happy to know that if they forget deodorant at home or need it for sports, that they have an option here that helps them manage good hygiene. It makes me happy to know to know they are keeping themselves active during recess. They have options as to what sport to play.
