I am incredibly grateful for supporters like you who contributed to my 9th and 10th grade CTE Foundations course. In this case, your donation of headphones made a meaningful difference in our classroom every single day.\r\n\r\nWhile the original intention was to help students access instructional videos and tutorials, the headphones ended up having an even greater impact than I anticipated. They helped students focus, stay engaged, and, as many of them would say, \"lock in\" on their work.\r\n\r\nStudents knew they could access the headphones whenever they needed them from the back of the room. That simple freedom empowered them to take greater ownership of their learning. As we completed our Website Design and Development unit, students independently followed audio tutorials, worked through challenges at their own pace, and built confidence in their technical skills.\r\n\r\nThe headphones continued to be an important resource as we transitioned into our Robot Election project, a more personalized and creative unit that asked students to collaborate, research, design, and create. Having access to headphones allowed students to concentrate on their individual tasks, revisit instructions as needed, and work productively in a busy classroom environment.\r\n\r\nYour generosity provided more than just classroom supplies: it gave students the tools they needed to learn independently, remain focused, and feel successful. Thank you for investing in my students and helping create a classroom where they can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1774129491140,"projectUrl":"project/sound-up-learning-on/10164471/","projectTitle":"Sound Up, Learning On!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Filipek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10467862_orig.jpg?crop=679,679,x229,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774035465950","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10467862"},{"teacherId":10430272,"projectId":10087550,"letterContent":"Thank you SO MUCH for the Ludwig Backbeat drum set! We had a great time opening up our awesome gift and it was great teaching the kids how to assemble the kit. The drum set has been used in practice twice a week since we got it in late March. It made its live debut at our school's annual fundraiser in April and it rocked the block at the Gotham Park Block Party under the Brooklyn Bridge in May. We have seen a significant difference in the students' performance when they have snacks available to them, and they are very grateful for them. \r\n\r\nEvery day, students in our classes, as well as students just passing through the halls, come in and get a snack. We do not believe in using snacks as an incentive for work completion, but rather treat them as a necessity. This means that the students really make use of the snack box and are not afraid to ask. We also always distribute a granola bar to each student halfway through any formal assessments that we do, because we know they need the extra push! And, though they were hesitant at first about the healthier options, several have learned that they love trail mix! \r\n\r\nEspecially given the current state of violence and fear in our communities, we are so grateful to be able to provide students with any additional support we can, even if it's just in the form of a snack and knowing that we care about their wellbeing.","fullyFundedDate":1763498229694,"projectUrl":"project/energize-the-11th-grade/9904062/","projectTitle":"Energize the 11th Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10353648_orig.jpg?crop=2066,2066,x22,y112&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763484910298","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10353648"},{"teacherId":9811096,"projectId":8895833,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my project to fuel my students with snacks this past school year. Having this resource in our classroom made a bigger impact than I could have imagined. Many of my students often came to class hungry, and the snacks you helped provide gave them the energy to stay focused and engaged. I noticed that instead of losing steam halfway through a lesson, they were able to participate more fully in discussions and writing activities. The simple act of knowing they had something to eat created a classroom environment where students could focus on learning instead of hunger.\r\n\r\nI'll never forget the look on their faces the first time they saw the stocked snack bins. They were surprised, excited, and so grateful that someone cared enough to provide something so thoughtful. One of my favorite moments came during a long reading activity—normally, students would fade by the end, but that day, they stayed energized and even asked if we could keep going. It was such a clear reminder that meeting basic needs is essential for academic growth.\r\n\r\nAs I look ahead to the new school year, I know the foundation we built last year will carry forward. Because of your generosity, my students experienced a classroom that valued their well-being as much as their learning. Thank you for investing in them—it truly made a difference in their daily lives and their ability to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1740005129045,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-focus-energizing-snacks-to-boo/8895833/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Focus: Energizing Snacks to Boost Student Engagement","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Destinee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9811096_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755807245380","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9811096"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_106801","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":537,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 11","studentTeacherRatio":"19.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":55.6,"schoolId":106801,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Urban Assembly Maker Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Urban Assembly Maker Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/urban-assembly-maker-academy/106801"}
