My student were really enthused by two recent articles about a spelling bee champion and the rescue of an endangered black bear cub. Scholastic News introduces my students to global issues and culture. Although our region is not very diverse, Scholastic News makes students realize they are part of a global community. Scholastic News builds lifelong learning.\r\n\r\nScholastic News is a teacher's dream! In this new world of hybrid and virtual learning, I am thankful that I can easily assign Scholastic News on Google Classroom. At first, their designs were simplistic. During this collaborative experience they explained what they were doing and reasoned what they needed to do to create more complex mechanical designs. All of my students gained important insight in STEM principles and design. \r\n\r\nA few of my students with engineering aptitude built half of the roller coaster project.
