Due to your contribution, my students were able to explore multiplication in an exciting way. Students were able to play multiplication games that helped them create concrete knowledge of multiplication facts. We used the multiplication games for weekly math centers as well as times when we needed to have indoor recess. Students loved the competition using knowledge of multiplication.\r\n\r\nOur whiteboards have become one of our most valued classroom tools. We use them daily in our morning meetings. We use them for math fact fluency as well as daily grammar practice. The students enjoy writing on their boards. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your donation to our classroom. My kindergarten class is having so much fun learning math and literacy using both of these items. Nearly every day, they ask if we have time to play with one of them. They would actually rather use these games than have a bubble party (true option that they rejected)!\r\n\r\nFor either the prize wheel or the Plinkit, I use a similar setup. For the prize wheel, I write either simple cvc words or numbers on the wheel. I have one slot that is also a candy slot--the kids are super excited for this one! One-by-one, the students take a turn spinning the wheel. Wherever it lands, the kiddos will either say the word or number where the wheel stops. Then, they will write the word or number on a whiteboard. If the wheel lands on the candy spot, everyone gets a small treat. It's so fun to see the students be excited, wherever it stops! For Plinkit, I color-code where the token lands and the kiddos can work on number identification, rhyming words, cvc words and letter names/sounds. This is just the start of how I can use these prize games. I'm excited to see how I can adapt them throughout this year and many more years to come.\r\n\r\nKindergarten this year has been very challenging. This is a generation that is used to instant gratification and constant entertainment. These prize games are a great way to keep my students' attention as I disquise solid learning within the guise of great fun.","fullyFundedDate":1725165223959,"projectUrl":"project/everyone-wins/8719323/","projectTitle":"Everyone Wins!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ahrens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9299236_orig.jpg?crop=946,946,x0,y186&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699118783702","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9299236"},{"teacherId":9632028,"projectId":8573057,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for providing the funding to add so many lovely books to my library that my students are actually interested in reading! I've had students ask me in years past for as much of the Wings of Fire series that I can get, and now that the books are in my room, it's absolutely fantastic to see them all being read almost constantly. I might have to ask for a second copy of the comics in fact! \r\n\r\nThe ballot box is also going quite far in getting my students interest in reading up. It's been set up so that every month, a student suggested book will be drawn to be added to the library and make a permanent addition to the classroom library for future students to enjoy for years to come. Already, books like Keeper of the Lost Cities and The Academy have been added on student recommendation, which have already been enjoyed by multiple students. The power of their own interests is truly a powerful thing. \r\n\r\nLastly, while I haven't had a chance to use every poster that's been added, my students are loving the math ones that remind them of the words associated with the various operations. These will undoubtedly make learning much more approachable for so many students to have a constant visual reminder of select important concepts throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1727462794170,"projectUrl":"project/new-library-and-classroom-posters/8573057/","projectTitle":"New Library and Classroom Posters","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. White","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9632028"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66342","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":881,"numTeachers":62,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":66342,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Twin Peaks Charter Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Twin Peaks Charter Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/st-vrain-valley-school-district-re-1j/twin-peaks-charter-academy/66342"}
