The students were so excited to see what you sent them this time! Especially towards the end of the school year we start running out of supplies, so we are already using the supplies that you sent. The students are busily creating their moon habitats with the attached solar stations, they have designed their rockets to launch and they are coding their rovers to move across the surface of the moon. The class is so engaged and the time they get to spend designing and creating just flies by. \r\n The fourth graders are working on designing, decorating and creating solar powered cars to experiment with. We had great discussion how this would benefit their living quarters and how to implement the solar power with growing their plants. Students still need to do more research but this project is helping them to come up with great questions about design and the purpose of using solar energy. Having a hands-on model makes visualizing what they can create so much better. Students are designing amazing blueprints and figuring out what supplies they can use to create their moon habitat. \r\n Next year students will take it to the next level with a more advanced solar house that will tell the amps they are using as you suggested. This was such a great starting spot for learning about circuits, lights and power. Thank you so much for making all of this possible. I was able to open the box, plug it in, and it was good to go. We haven't stopped printing since it arrived, except when I go home. The students are getting better and better at designing and creating their ideas. \r\n This year we used an online snowflake cutter to make unique snowflakes, edited them with the tinkercad program, put their names on them and then we printed them. We also made lithopane globes that light up with their winter designs. Their abilities to try new challenges just keep increasing! \r\n The students are really looking forward to the 3D printing competition this spring and I will let you know how they do. Because of generous donors like you, we have the most awesome tools to use in my classroom.
