Students read, then move into small groups where they build, design, or brainstorm how STEM plays a role in the world of their book. For example, after Fish in a Tree, students created problem-solving journals to think like inventors, while The Tale of Despereaux inspired critical thinking about bravery and creativity.\r\n\r\nSome students, especially those who once struggled to stay engaged with reading, are now the ones asking if we can \"read just one more chapter.\" One student in particular, who usually avoided independent reading, became completely absorbed in Bridge to Terabithia and shared that it was the first time a book made them \"feel like they were inside another world.\" Watching that spark ignite has been one of the greatest gifts of this project.\r\n\r\nThe additional supplies, like the brown paper bags and sticker paper, have helped us organize interactive projects, making novel studies more personal and hands-on.
