The vocabulary games, sight word activities, and leveled books are already making a difference—students are excited to practice new words, challenge themselves with games, and dive into books that match their reading levels. The storage bins help keep everything organized and within reach, making it easier for them to take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nMy students, many of whom face challenges outside of school, now have access to resources that give them confidence and joy in reading. Every smile, every \"I did it!\" moment, and every page turned is possible because of you. Using my Glo Germ kit, I applied lotion to my hands and sprinkled powder on pencils and activity sheets before they arrived. As students worked, I gave them high-fives and passed out pencils, allowing the \"germs\" to spread naturally. When finished, I asked the students if my hands looked clean, they all shouted \"Yes!\", because to the eye, they did. But when I turned off the lights and shined the blacklight, their faces lit up with shock. My hands, their papers, pencils, and even their own hands were glowing with hidden \"germs.\"\r\n\r\nThe realization hit hard, germs travel quickly when we share supplies, touch surfaces, or play with friends. You never know who just sneezed, wiped their nose, or touched something contaminated, passing those germs right along to the next person.\r\nThe best part, every single student was eager to wash their hands immediately after. When they returned, they couldn't wait to check their hands under the blacklight to make sure they scrubbed away every last \"speck of germs.\"\r\n\r\nThe \"Germ Busters\" lesson was a success, not just an activity, but an unforgettable experience that left my students excited and motivated to practice better hand hygiene every day.","fullyFundedDate":1746698796278,"projectUrl":"project/germ-busters/9059692/","projectTitle":"Germ Busters!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Spearman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9741477_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756478937176","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9741477"},{"teacherId":1491055,"projectId":9286926,"letterContent":"When our karaoke speaker with microphones, ring light, and backdrop arrived, the energy in our classroom was electric. Students could hardly wait to step up, grab a mic, and perform. The new technology has transformed our Performing Arts Center into a professional-feeling stage where students can practice speaking, singing, and presenting with confidence. The karaoke system allows them to clearly project their voices, while the ring light and backdrop create a polished environment that makes them feel like true performers.\r\n\r\nThis technology is doing so much more than just providing entertainment, it's helping students develop essential skills such as public speaking, teamwork, and stage presence. For example, one of my quieter students, who rarely volunteered to speak in class, has started using the microphone to recite poems and even try short skits. The moment she finished her first performance and heard her classmates' cheers, her face lit up with pride.\r\n\r\nThe excitement hasn't worn off students line up eagerly to use the equipment during our performing arts block, and even those who were hesitant at first have warmed up to participating. We've begun incorporating the karaoke setup into poetry readings, reader's theater, and even history presentations. This project has truly opened the door for my students to express themselves creatively and confidently.
